I'm in the market for an upgrade and I would like to replace my old gtx 660 with a refrence model GTX 780 SC from EVGA, I'm wondering wether or not the Case and card are compatible, i know the rest of my PC components will accept it, like the power and supply and such, (or maybe i dont know? correct me if im wrong! Model is the CG8580)

I've measured the case and compared it to the card my self and have found i have around 3cm of clearence but im not entirely sure still.

Also do ask if you want any more information and try not to rip me apart in the replys, first post after all 😛

Thanks in advance!

Hey MightyMuch 🙂

No on gets ripped apart for asking questions on ROG...

What is the Watts rating of your PSU. Those come with 700W right? Reference 780 wants 600W minimum so you should be just about OK. The EVGA SC cards are not exactly reference and come overclocked and would draw more power but it seems they have the same 600w minimum recommendation. You just wouldn't really have the room to OC anything CPU or GPU.

You would need a 6pin and 8pin PCIe power connector....I don't know if those PCs come with any spare connections on the PSU or modular cabling check that.

Finally the dimensions you will have to measure yourself...or wait to see if someone else has done the same mod and can confirm....

The PSU is 800 Watts on mine, plenty and more than enought to accomadate the SC, i found a 8pin connector on the PSU and i found a 6 to 8pin adaptor i could buy if that dosent work for whatever reason.

Only problem is how do i do the measuring? where do start the measurement? Do i start from the very back of the Case? and how do i determine the GPU size? do I measure from the bracket?

The cards are measures at their widest points but not including the contacts that sit in the PCIe Slot

So red box

Well i checked the dimensions, and double checked the specifications on my PSU plus the cables i need i dont have an 8 pin connector, but i know for a fact that graphics cards come with six to 8 pin adapters and i do have some spare six pin adapters that i can use to use.

Sooo i see no reason why this shoudn't work!

Thanks for your help man 🙂
