Another RAM question

Lidas

Hi all 🙂
I'm setting up a new rig and I've finally figured out all the parts up to the RAM, so I figured I'd post my specc here and hope you have some tips for me regarding RAM

Spec:
CPU: 4930k
CPU Cooling: Corsair H100i
GPU: GeForce GTX 780ti
Mobo: ASUS Rampage IV Formula
SSD: Samsung SSD 840 EVO 250GB
Case: Antec Twelve Hundred
PSU: Corsair HX 1000W

So I've decided to go atleast 1866mhz, more or less decided to go with a G.Skill RipjawsZ, I want 16gb (4x4) but there's loads of them and I don't know which ones to go for, I've read that going a lower CL number is better, is this true? and is a memory with for example CL 7 7 7 24 better then one with CL8 7 6 24?
Not really sure if I understand it correctly 😛
all help appreciated, I'm living in sweden and will probably be buying from webhallen.com
These are the ones I've looked at, most info is in english:

But there is just so many more...

Thanks again

skip the 1866mhz is my advice

ripjaws z

2133 mhz cl9 ?

Its a matter of taste, and the real life difference isnt that huge between the speeds.. Better to find a kit that wont cause any issues instead

Others may help you with which kit is the best pick

Why would one pick a 4x4 16gb over 2x8 16gb?

it is better to fully use up memory channels than to have empty dimm slots.

Hmm... This contradicts what I've read. Most articles I've found tells me that I should go for quadchannel memory sticks if I have a motherboard made for quadchannel... Guess I'd best keep reading until I find the answer, if there is one.
Thx for the answers so far, if anyone has something to add then please 🙂

With quad channel you do benefit from having the 4 memory sticks the memory controller is designed to provide bandwidth with the quad channel. X79 platforms.

The dual sticks are recommended for non-quad channel boards. Two sticks will be less work for a IMC even if they are larger capacity. That is where the confusion is coming from. So it is better for a Z87 to have 2 x 8GB rather than 4 x 4GB 🙂

Hope that clears it up.

One last thing, will you even notice the difference between a quad channel and a dual channel set up? Nope not at all. 😄

Thank you HiVizMan! That did clear it up for me 🙂 since I will be running a x79 board I'll go with quadchannel, now my only issue is to decide which ones to use. I've narrowed it down to 3 possible candidates
#1:
http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorkomponenter/156508-g.skill_ripjawsz_16gb_ddr3_pc-1700_2133mhz&at...
#2:
http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorkomponenter/157772-g.skill_ripjawsz_16gb_ddr3_pc-14900_1866mhz&a...
#3:
http://www.webhallen.com/se-sv/datorkomponenter/156474-g.skill_ripjawsz_16gb_ddr3_pc-19200_2400mhz&a...

I see that #1 has been recommended by many ppl in other threads so am currently leaning towards that one
I see that #2 is a lower CL but also lower freq and abit lower price
and lastly I see that #3 has a higher freq and a higher CL
Which ones to choose?
Thank you all for your great help 🙂

G.Skill RipjawsZ 16GB DDR3 PC-19200 2400MHz (F3-2400C10Q-16GZH) (4x4GB)

Based on the price and performance. This is the set for you.
