air cooling solutions

after a dissapointing run with the corsaair hydro 100 as i had to replace 2 units i decided to go for an air cooling solution but i run into space issue , i am using the 1st pci-e slot as i am installing 3 cards and i am using 16 gb of memory so the b2 and d2 are used.as a result i am remaining with a bit small place to place on of those huge 3 fans cooler , any idea for a good solution will be welcomed.thanks

Anyway, as for air cooling recommendations, the three mentioned above are terrific. If the G-Skill memory you are getting are the RipJaw-X/Z, then they are 1cm taller than low profile modules so the Phanteks and Silver Arrow might have issues with the front fans.

The Alpenfohn K2 is another alternative that like the Noctua NH-D14 has a front 120mm fan that can be adjusted to accommodate slightly taller memory modules.

As for your concerns regarding the first PCIe slot, the best thing to do would be to have a look at the width of those 4 coolers and see how they would fit on the motherboard.

i am not using the sli mode at all , i need to power a total of 8-10 screens , so 6 i get from the 3 cards and the rest i get from Triple Head2Go from Matrox , i found during the years that those gaming cards are delivering much better results in multi screen solution , are better built and a result lasting longer. i am using today 3 Nvidia 8800 GTX and simply upgrading my system. basicly all gaming orientd equipment is the best design and built.0

Getting back to your question The 4 pin EZ plug is simply an old stiffy drive connector. Most power supplies have one on the end of the 4 pin molex strand. OR if your PSU does not have one you can pick up an adaptor very easily from ebay or your local electronics store.

I take it then that you intend to run more than 32GB or ram then.

I do not understand why you think you can not fit your cooler and have your card in that first slot? My cooler fits quite comfortably.

To the one who knows it all.........................
before i went to buy the above cpu cooler i went to check the Hydro 100 and it seems i was the one to blame , it worked flawlessly in the shop , put it back again and nothing , cahnged cables , socket etc still dead , acn it be somthing that i do wrong with the motherboard, do i miss somthing ???? basicly it is just the 1st boot and i am stuck..........

If you take a look at this image, you'll learn the Thermalright Silver Arrow, will physically fit though you'd wanna swap out the stock fans since they do poke out a little. However the slightly more compact Noctua D14 will undoughably fit too!!

Not to worry my friend we will work out why your H100 is not working for you.

Let us take it in small steps.

Have you mounted the cooler?

If yes, have you connected the fans and the power cables yet?

If yes can you share with me how you have connected them, which fan headers are you using?
Can you test each fan header that you use with another fan to see if the fan header is working?

When I was buying mine, I checked out the Corsair forums and discovered there has been having loads of technical glitches varying from leaks to malfunctions. I'd say there's a fair chance the OP unwillingly received an unit from one of the bad batches floating around.
