Hey @GraphicsWhore86

What components did you order for your rig?
I can hardly imagine that it is comfortable to work on a 50" monitor with just 50 centimeter distance. It's to big if you're asking me.
Seiki revealed some smaller 4K monitors with HDMI 2.0 at IFA in Berlin (Link). I'm pretty sure we will see more models from other manufacturers offering HDMI 2.0 connectivity in the coming months.
If you want to go with a 4K monitor I would recommend to buy one of the available 24-30" sized and with IGZO or IPS panel equipped ones.

Hey GW and welcome

I am partial to LG electromics and think that this will work for you

LG Electronics 49UB8500 49-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz 3D Smart LED TV

But if you decide for a regular monitor be sure and get a 144Hz

1299$, nice for a TV of the newer generation. But now back to the facts.
Philips recommends a viewing distance of three times the screen size, 3*49 inches = 147 inches = ~3.75m. I guess there is no difference for Samsung or other manufacturers TVs.
May I ask you a question @01 Wolverine, did you ever sat 3-4 hours in front of an 49 inch monitor/TV with a viewing distance of 30-50cm? I can't imagine this is comfortable.

@GraphicsWhore86:
There's another problem I forgot to mention yesterday. HDMI 2.0 is nice to have, but you will still be limited to 4K@30Hz. None of the available graphics cards have an HDMI2.0 output only HDMI1.4. 😉
If you want a 4K monitor you will have to use DisplayPort MST respectively TiledDisplay technology to reach 4K@60Hz. 😉 If you do so search for a monitor with the specs I mentioned above. 😉

im gaming onva 47" tv and have no problem.
only thing is that you are limited to 60hz max.
so there are times i regret not going for high hz monitor.
there are times i die after emtying a mag in to one and he turns around and one shot kills me couse of the lag.

if it is in a bedroom go for monitor.
livingroom well. thats another question.

but take a good look at the spec of the 4K tv and see if it is a tru 4K one.
not all is 4K even if they list it so. some can list 4K and it can be 1080P
just look at the oled tvs. some is listed ad UHD and it is 1080P.

Conkers no i have not gamed on the tv. I game(Assassins Creed) only on my 27" 1440p 120hz ips monitor

I also iRace on triple 144hz monitors. I am iracing the majority of the time.

Since i irace i am looking forward to oled tv/monitors to get rid of the bezels

All my tvs are LGs.

Here is a guy(Barnacules Nerdgasm) that games on 3x46" tvs, The following links will give you a look

Lol , this looks insane. 😄
It seems to work with games and if you have the space to install such a system. But there is still the problem, that you're not capable of running 4K@60Hz, because it has no DisplayPort input for MST and TiledDisplay support. Gaming@30Hz sucks.
