13900K + 4090 on 1000W PSU and 280 mm AIO

I know it sounds like a bad idea.

I only do mild OC and if I push either the CPU or GPU it's not both at the same time. On paper I should be using 1200W and a 360 mm rad.

But I argue, with great airflow and not pushing the 13900k over 253W, and not over 5.8GHz the temps should be more than fine.

Same with my PSU of 1000W (Titanium efficiency not that it matters), max 450W my power draws should be alright.

Yay? Nay? What are ROG's thoughts.. I'd like to hear. Be gentle 😉

I'm seeing the limitations of the build now that I have made the upgrade.

I have the 13900K mildly OC'd at x2 5.8 GHz pCores + x6 4.3 GHz eCores. CR 23 and XTU benchmark shows it easily can hit 100 deg C. I'm already hesitant to OC any higher. This is my first core I9. A much harder beast to tame than my previous I7 12700K. As it is I will not be able to draw out the best OC settings. I was shooting for 5.8-6 GHz on ALL pCores.

My options are 1) to take it a step down and go for the 13700K instead with my current set-up. Or 2) go for a 360/420 AIO.

I've hit a thermal wall but still I'm getting good benches -- https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?132358-13900k-core-voltage-offset-values

The 4090 efficiency when the power limit is increased tends to fall off a cliff. On my personal system, I'm capped at 70% TDP on the TUF. You will only lose circa 5-8% of performance in doing so, but save around 40% of the power draw (in certain scenarios).

That is good to know, thanks for the tip!

I think I've found the sweet spot for my CPU overclock. TVB activated -- getting very snappy response with every task. Every click feels good! Bench scores are great as well. CR23 @40K and XTU is @13.7K.

I'm going to start messing with my GPU very soon.

My best scores so far. I know some folks who made 42K on CR23 but this is as far as I can go with a 280mm AIO.

New High score on CR 23. I didn't think my 280 mm AIO would hold up this well. I'm very pleased!
