its brand new out of the box and does not look to have any outside damage or loose rattling part inside.

Did some research and found a SOLUTION.

It's a known issue with Armoury crate SE after updates. meaning its not a hardware problem so don't worry. no need to exchange and return your UNIT.

SOLUTION: completely power-off/shutdown the device. note that restarting the UNIT does not resolve it.(after properly shutting down the ROG Xbox ally X the rumble noise resolved itself)

My theory is the unit still need a proper power cycle to finish updates and just the regular "restart" after updates causes Issue in the hardware.

What to take from this: Always power cycle your device (completely OFF and ON) from time to time to insure Updates are properly installed.

Hi all
MCU FW 318 was released on the 24th. The ACSE update is now available and has been uploaded to the official website. We recommend updating to this version for optimization.

Thank you.

Same here, have an exchange for a unit from another BB location tomorrow, but I don't want to re setup a new device if it's not hardware related and it's just going to happen again.

Nice, thank you. Glad to have a way to make it stop for a bit. Mine keeps coming back after a bit, hopefully they fix it soon.

Mine only happens when the charger is plugged in.

I have the same issue. I took my unit yesterday and noticed a rattling sound from the bottom right vibration motor. When I restart the system, the problem is gone for a while and comes back after a while. I hope that it's not a hardware problem and that they will fix it soon with some update. If you have the same information, share it with us; I will do the same.

I'm almost certain it is just a software error form updates. note updates take place in the background as well. hence my advice to completely power down the device at the end of the day and never leave it on standby for day.
Try a full shut down if you experience it again. Mine isn't having any issues since I fully powered down the device and turned it back on after 30sec.

I hope this helps and it never comes back.

Same problem started happening to me.

Is this officially logged with Asus? How do we know they are aware of it or not?

Known issue on the ROG Ally & ROG Ally X in the past.

But I have no idea if they've acknowledged it on the Xbox ROG Ally X.  It's software (hopefully), and if this thread takes up some momentum, maybe we can get it officially recognized.
