Quick question for the XB Ally X owners. Are the RGB’s on the XBAX supposed to blink / flash for a few seconds when you boot up the device?
I haven’t noticed this on my OG Ally. When I boot up my OG Ally, the RGB’s light up to a solid colour for a few seconds and then turn off. I have them set in Armoury Crate to just light up during the boot up process and the same on my XBAX too.
But on the new XB Ally X I just got, I notice the RGB’s don’t light up to a solid colour like the OG Ally, but they flicker for a few seconds instead.
Is this normal, have Asus changed the boot up lighting effect or is there something up with the RGB’s on my XBAX.
Here’s a short clip to what it looks like, just wanted to see if it’s the same for others here.
I’ve already done the cloud recovery process and set up the device as new again, but the issue is still there.
Thanks

Please assist in confirming the following.
1. When the abnormality occurs, is it after a shutdown and restart, or waking up from S4 (hibernate) state?
2. After entering the operating system, does the system return to normal?
3. What are the versions of ACSE, MCU, and BIOS?
Thank you.

Hi @Falcon2_ROG
1. The issue occurs every time the device is powered on. Usually when I power on my original 2023 Ally the RGB lights are supposed to light up for a few seconds during the initial boot up process and then turn off. This happens all the time on my original white 2023 Ally and the 2024 Ally X.
2. After the system boots up, it seems to return to normal. From the early testing I did, there doesn’t seem to be any problems with the RGB lights. The issue only occurs every time the device is booting up for the first time.
3. I’m fully up to date with the current versions of ACSE, BIOS, MCU firmware and Windows updates as of Dec 1st 2025.
I have already tried to reset the device and reinstall Windows again using Asus cloud recovery process, but that didn’t fix the issue.
And just to add to that, I have been asking around and it seems that others have noticed the issue happening on their Xbox Ally X and also the base Xbox Ally too. I’m hoping that it’s a software issue that’s the cause of this.

@B_Bobble
Please provide me with your ACSE, BIOS, MCU firmware versions, and Windows version.
Additionally, I have sent you a message; please refer to the steps in the message to capture the logs during the issue occurrence and provide them to me. I will then forward them to the relevant department for further verification.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Hi @Falcon2_ROG
I’ve just a bit more info for you to pass onto Asus HQ about this issue if possible.
I have spoke to the local Asus customer service agent in my country and they have said that they might have been able to recreate the flickering RGB lights at startup issue when the “awake” option is set to “off” in Armoury Crate lighting section.
“Go to ACSE > Lighting > Settings > Awake.
Pls check the Awake option is ON or OFF?
HQ could only replicate this issue when AWAKE option is OFF”
I have spoke to some people on Reddit with the same issue as me and they have confirmed that when awake is set to off, the the RGB lights flicker when the Xbox Ally is first powered on instead of fully lighting up.
Can you pass this info onto Asus HQ for me along with the screenshots from the two YouTubers that also confirm the issue is happening on both the Xbox Ally X and base Xbox Ally.
Thanks a lot
