I'm trying to get an external monitor working via usb-c on the rog ally x. I plug the monitor into one of the usb-c slots and nothing. Neither slot works. Both slots work fine using a hub/dock and hdmi out.
It works fine on the rog ally but the X doesn't recognise a monitor is connected if only connected via usb-c.
I've had a fiddle with various settings but so far nothing has worked. Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi @Tahatan ,
I would like to confirm more usage scenarios to clarify this issue. You mentioned that when the Ally X is connected to a hub/dock, the monitor can display normally via HDMI. I want to confirm whether using the same cable through the hub/dock C to C connection to the monitor works normally. Have you tested with other cables or other devices using the same cable?
If the issue persists, please provide the following information via private message so that we can further investigate this issue. Thank you.

The same cable and monitor work fine - plug and play - with both the original ROG Ally and the lcd Steam Deck. I can’t try usb-c out from a dock as i don’t have one that does that ( only hdmi and display port both of which work fine).
I’ll send you a pm with the other details, thanks.

I've managed to get it half working. If i plug the monitor into the ally x the monitor will turn on but say no signal. If i power the monitor separately ( plug the monitor into the wall), and then plug the monitor into the ally x (has to be done in this order), it then works.
Again, with both the OG ally and steam deck they work without having to power the monitor separately.
I'd like to get it working the same as the OG ally and steam deck, does this extra info give any more thoughts?
