I am reviving this issue as I've not seen any update in months regarding it. I thought my issues stopped upon installing Bazzite but it happens on Linux as well. Games this typically happens on are games that require rapid pressing of these buttons, examples include Diablo, Hades, or any rythm and fighting game you can think of, it's not necessarily game specific as you can trigger it even playing a game that doesn't meet those requirements provided you button mash Y a lot . Please I am hoping I don't have to go through the nightmare that is the RMA process

@Joeystickz
Could you please let us know which version of the Linux system you are using? Additionally, could you provide the steps to reproduce the issue and a video to help us confirm the problem? We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

Hi, I am on the current version of Bazzite, everything up to date. I dual boot windows, so that I may install updates released by asus for the bios or GPU drivers. I'm on all current drivers. Please note this issue has been ongoing since I received the Rog Ally X, first starting on Windows. And it occurs on Windows as well. In order to reproduce the issue, you have to choose games that require rapid button presses, especially those that require the Y button. Examples would be any fighting games or maybe Hades for quicker way to trigger the issue. Button mash the Y button rabidly for a few minutes even and it will crash to the black screen with the light indicator solidly on, indicating the system will not turn off unless you hold down the power button. Hey Falcon,
You might want to look over these threads from Reddit / this site - this is not a new issue, it's been ongoing and affecting multiple users since the Ally X released, and several users have gotten to the point where they've simply opted to return their devices for a refund because they're sick of waiting for a fix, especially after BIOS 310 was supposed to address this issue but failed to do so.

Hey there, Im shipping out my device so they can test it. I sent them a video and told them which games this can help them reproduce the issue the most, basically fighting games, rythm games, anything that requires the button mashing of Y. Hopefully the replacement they send out is more current and the issue isn't present. While not as widespread as the SD card issue, im hoping this one turns out fine. Journalists never picked this up or youtubers so im guessing it's a small fraction of us. Hopefully they can figure it out and it's not a hardware issue.

Hello,
I have bought an ROG Ally X last friday and I've been having this same exact problem. My Ally freezes after 5-10 minutes of playing a game and can sometimes freeze while browsing the internet. I have tried everything; updating bios to 310, cloud recovery (Twice), tried fiddling with the fan curves... It freezes, then goes all black, sound still playing with analog LEDS still on. I have to hard reset it every time. It hard crashes so often that Windows made fingerprint and pin logging unavailable for two hours.
I'm at a loss and don't know what to do.
Thanks!

Based on your description, the issue you’re experiencing seems to differ from the one discussed here (which also occurs while browsing the internet). Since you mentioned that your device was recently purchased, and to ensure your rights are protected, we recommend reaching out to your retailer for further assistance if your unit is still within the return period. Thank you for your understanding.

I will have a video sent to you at some point on Friday Or Saturday, to further show what we mean by this issue.

Hello,
I was able to finally play for the whole evening yesterday without any crashes. The drivers were somehow faulty so I did a rollback of the AMD radeon graphics in the "device manager" (it froze hard but then decided to reboot so I could finally see the yellow exclamation point beside the AMD Radeon Graphics and it worked flawlessly. After I was done I shut it down and plugged it in.
I booted it up this morning and it still does the same thing and it won't restart again. I have to, again, hard reset it myself since it won't do it by itself.
Checked the Asus diagnostics and everything seems 100% fine. Nothing seems broken
