I'm reaching out to bring attention to a serious issue affecting the recently released ROG Ally X handheld gaming device. Many users, including myself, are experiencing random and sudden crashes where the screen completely turns off with no backlight. While this happens, the joystick and fan lights stay on, but the device becomes completely unresponsive and no sounds. My device a week old only and it just started today also some users said they got the replacement but it still occured to them regardless.
This issue occurs:
Straight out of Cloud Recovery
After updating the AMD Graphics Driver to version through Armory Crate, MyASUS, or Windows Updates
Even after updating everything (MCU 312, firmware, BIOS 304, drivers, Windows updates)
During any gaming session — from high-end games like Elden Ring and Tekken 8 to even simpler games, making the device unreliable for normal use
Tried Bazzite, same.
I’ve personally connected with over 20 other users on Reddit who are experiencing the same issue. You can find a detailed thread with additional reports from frustrated users here:

Despite our efforts to get help from ASUS support, we’ve received no meaningful solution. Given the widespread nature of this issue, the coverage from the community could help push ASUS to address the problem properly. Many users are stuck with devices that crash randomly while playing games, turning off the screen entirely with backlit off, leaving only the RGB joystick and fan lights on, but rendering the system unresponsive.
The coverage of this issue could bring much-needed attention to it, and potentially encourage ASUS to provide a real fix for the affected users. The ROG Ally X has so much potential, but this problem is making it unusable for many of us.
Thank you for considering this, and I hope the community can help raise awareness for this issue that’s impacting a lot of loyal gamers using the ROG Ally X.

Hi @MyPayaso ,
Thank you for contacting us. I would like to confirm further details with you to clarify this issue. Please enable the log recording function in Armoury Crate SE before starting the game, and save the log after the issue occurs. Additionally, use AsLogDumptool to capture the system information at the time, and provide the following information via private message. I will forward it to the technical department for further analysis. Thank you.
【This is the file path for the log file, provided for your reference.】
In Armory Crate SE, navigate to" Settings">"General" and check the "About" page. Click on "App Diagnostics tool" and select "Log Files" to bring up the Privacy Policy statement. Once the user agrees to the statement, Armory Crate will start collecting diagnostic logs. You can click on "Generate Log Data" to create an encrypted log file (ASUS log file).

I have read from others its probably due to problematic windows sleep feature. Try disable auto sleep for windows, use hibernate instead.
