ROG Ally very slow download speeds to SD card

I've installed a SanDisk Extreme Pro 1TB micro SD Card, formatted NTFS. When downloading in Steam I'm getting inconsistent speeds ranging from 0MB/s - 7MB/s.

When I run a read/write test on the card it shows sequential right speeds of 70-80MB/s and random write speeds of 57MB/s.

Internet speed test results in 90MB/s.

I've downloaded the latest card reader driver from Asus which didn't help at all.

Also worth noting that when I download a game to the internal SSD I get speeds of 50-60MB/s.

Additionally, I have a slower SanDisk SD Card (Ultra) in my Steam Deck and get speeds of around 30MB/s when downloading on there.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Jonny I am having the same issue. also when i put the card in the sd slot to format it i get windows was unable to format this drive. I put it in my other computers it works find I dont know if its a driver issue or a hardware issue. (I to am using that same exact micro sd card)

Interesting. I had no problems formatting. I'd suggest trying a 3rd part formatting software like EaseUS.

I looked into this situation a little more. And it leads to a faulty sd hardware. I been advised to take it back for exchange.

Please let me know how your SD card performance is after the exchange!

hey Johnny that sd card that we got might be a fake i just did a test on it and this is what i got also if the person that sold it to you name was  SHAHAR it is 100% fake i looked at their online store on amazon and all the reviews are made in that same day mostly the real one are edited out with a black line saying it was fake. if you can return it for your money..

I also did a test here is the results. went and got my GF sd and put here 1 tb sd card in and the port work like a charm write speed was at 55-80. so i will not have to exchange my device it was a fake sd card. that i am returning to amazon.393782680.jpeg

I'll test it with that program tomorrow morning, but I did test transfer speeds using a different software, as well as my moving a 1gb file from the SSD to the card and both showed reasonable write speeds in the 70-80MB/s range. Also mine was sold by "PB Trading"

Lots and lots of fake (micro) sd cards being sold, with bogus mbrs pretending they have a high capacity. Even go so far as to imitate the packaging, it's crazy. My advice: get a samsung, a Sandisk or some other reputable company, from a reputable seller. I got a samsung pro plus 512gb, no problems whatsoever.

I didn't test the whole drive, but I'm getting write speeds of 82.5MB/s which I think is within the expected speed range, and no errors.

yea that is what mine was around it would drop down to 55 sometimes. I'm glad to see that everything is working better for you. did you do the driver update for your sd card reader?

Well.. the original problem still exists (downloading a game in Steam) so nothing has improved on that front.

I did update the SD card driver the first day.
