ROG Ally SD Card Reader Not In Devices

The SD Card Reader Hardware isn't even showing up in my devices list when trying to look into updating/reinstalling drivers.  I just bought a microsd card today to try and add storage for more games, and come to see that on my Ally it seems the hardware isn't even connected/showing up at all.  Help.

I'm glad to know that I am not alone in this issue.   I wonder how widest this particular issue is.  I see countless other people who have voiced their complaints and concerns over the SD Card slot being so close to the fans vent and overheating and frying microSD cards.

Until the problem is really fixed there are three alternatives:

1.  Use an external sd drive

2.  Upgrade the ssd and don’t use the sd drive

3.  Use only the ssd without upgrading to a bigger drive and don’t use the sd drive

I wouldn’t be surprised if a class action lawsuit happens from this problem if refunds are not granted.

Don't think it's a software issue....or like your fan needs to be turned high all the time when it detects an SD card...and even more when right next to it the egpu port being used. Heat will kill the sd cards eventually...faster cards will die faster. IMHO the whole SD card port needs to be moved away like to the side or bottom.

And if they need to have the fan on all the time then it will make it noisier than the deck no matter what power profile as software will push the fans to run more/higher than usual in order to maintain a certain temp where the SD card port.

The fan running at a higher speed might help with the cooling, but at the expense of a reduced battery run time.

I tried to send a private message to the mod as instructed given that my SD card slot has completely failed and received an error on the forum that I've reached the limit of private messages that I can send.  I've only ever sent a single message.  Can a mod help with this?

with my rog ally im not planning on using a SD card, can i still keep my unit? im only using the SSD 512GB it comes with.

Bummer, since I posted that my sd slot doesn't work the mod sent me a PM telling me which other mod to PM and what information to include.  (nice)

I then did this, and after more than a day the second mod replied and asked me to send an email. 

What gives?  I provided all of the information asked for, I want next steps to resolution, not a message asking me to send another message.

My SD reader is completely fried. it wont read any sd's. they work in all my other devices just not the Ally. I am going to try and return mine at Best Buy and hope they take it.
