The SD Card Reader Hardware isn't even showing up in my devices list when trying to look into updating/reinstalling drivers. I just bought a microsd card today to try and add storage for more games, and come to see that on my Ally it seems the hardware isn't even connected/showing up at all. Help.

Interesting theory. I wasn't aware that the SteamDeck also has SD card issues. However, there is more to this: in my (and several others') case, the microSD card did not fail, the reader did. I don't think that happened on the same scale with the Deck, so there is still a design/hardware flaw for which Steam's file transfer protocol cannot be blamed.

Don't know if steam deck still have this issue and if it's only an issue with it ruining cards and not the actual card reader. When my first Asus rog ally broke it was during downloading from steam, might just have been a coincidense. The Steam Deck also have a habit of loosing games that are stored on SD cards, so don't know if thats any better the with the ROG ally. I just use a external 1 TB (Kingston xs2000) SSD and a usb c to 2x usb c adapter.
Here is an artical about Steam Deck SD card issues.

It's definitely a problem with the hardware and they are not gonna resolve the issue. This is just like their chips all over again. Asus's company motto is "screw the customer". They just gaslight you and say you are spamming the thread when you say they aren't going to fix it. They won't even respond to emails to get my device RMAed. There is no resolution and they don't plan on making one.

Have you actually had an RMA rejected or was this meant to just get buried in the subtext and hopefully nobody would notice? If you have genuinely been unable to start an RMA, can you contact me.

I am sorry but this is still missing the point. The RMA process is so long, inconvenient and cumbersome as to be borderline unusable (who would compensate me for the 5+ weeks without my main computer?) When is ASUS going to do us, customers and early adopters, the courtesy of an apology and acknowledge the obvious design flaw?

Couldn't agree more here. The device shouldn't have shipped in this state at all. Plus that the whole RMA team isn't aware in all countries plus a lengthy wait time. I've should had sticked to my steam deck.

You're entitled to your opinion, but as moderator, I need to syphon out users who are making claims like "being ignored". That's what I'm focusing on. If a user is having difficulty initiating an RMA then that is clearly something that needs addressing.
If you don't have an issue or would rather stay preoccupied with making a stand, that's fine - but voice them without trying to stop me 😅

This is the problem. ASUS stance has been to ignore the issue (at least publicly), pretend there is nothing wrong with the design, and treat all the faulty SD card reader reports (I reckon many thousands of them by now) as if each was an isolated incident. I have proposed the dock/charger option here and in a new thread in the main forum. No answer or reaction from the company (or moderator) whatsoever. Their silence is deafening...

Indeed, I am preoccupied with making a stand. With respect, I am not trying to stop you from doing your job, I am using any opportunity I have to voice my little people's concerns to the megacorp...

I've been waiting over a month for a reply from RMA. This is me contacting you..... Do something about it. And what do you mean get buried in subtext? I'm literally stating that you guys aren't doing anything.... I like how you guys are making us to seem like the bad guys when we spent $700 on a machine that doesn't work
