Micro SD Card Fix on newer models?

Just got my new Asus Ally Z1 Extreme, I've been seeing a bunch of forms lately on micro SD cards overheating and completely being fried by the slot. Just wanted to know if this issue has been addressed on newer models and I can safely use a micro SD card without dealing with the headache of having to send it for repairs later down the line or should I just replace the internal SSD? (my serial code is part of the "R8" batch)
