Is anyone experiencing issues with the rumble / vibration motors on their Ally getting really noisy?

Hi, I’ve just started to have a problem with my rumble motors on my Ally recently. I’m not sure if any of the recent updates have caused it, or my Ally is defective.

What’s happening is every so often in games the rumble motors will start to get extra loud and buzzy sounding. At first they’ll be fine, then they go into loud mode for some reason. And the noise is really noticeable and it feels like the vibration strength is stronger too.
The only way to fix the issue is to shut down my Ally and boot it back up again, then the motors go back to normal for a while. But then it’s only a matter of time before the loud buzzing and vibration issue comes back again and I have to repeat the whole process.

This seems to be only happening since the last round of updates, as I’ve had my Ally for around 10 months now and it’s been fine so far.
Can any Asus staff on here drop me a message so we can look into this please?

Thanks

Hi @B_Bobble ,
Could you please provide us with a video to further confirm this issue?
You mentioned it occurs during gaming, is it happening in specific games or does it happen with any game? Thank you.

Hi @Anbby_ROG I just got your DM and sent you a reply and all the details and video.
I’ve been playing some shooter games lately like Call of Duty - Advanced Warfare and it seems games with constant rumble / vibration in them like that one seem to be triggering the issue.

Same issue and it happens in any game that supports rumble with me, just rumbles constantly for no reason until you pause the game. Only way to stop it is turn rumble off in the games.

Garden warfare zombies vs plants is really bad with rumble, Halo infinite also and alot more titles.

Is this normal

I'm having an issue with the rumble I have a video I would like to send in to see if this is normal, it wasn't doing this last night.

Hi @Anbby_ROG I’ve been looking into this issue with the vibration motors further and it’s still happening. I even got rid of my old Ally and bought another brand new one a few days ago and the same vibration issue in the same couple of games is happening. This needs to be looked into further.
I’ve sent the further details in a DM, can you get back to me when you get time.

Thanks

Hi @Anbby_ROG . I'm also having this issue. Exactly as @B_Bobble had said.

Hey @colsanders so you’re having issues with the vibration motors on your Ally too? What’s happening with your Ally and what games are triggering the issue.
I’ve seen on a few more online forums that others have been having similar issues, and with certain games triggering the issue. The games for me so far have been Call of Duty - Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty - Ghosts, and Spider-Man Remastered. But I’ve heard of games like Horizon - Forbidden West, Ghostwire Tokyo, Skyrim, Ratchet & Clank - Rift Apart, and the current Call of Duty MW3 all triggering the issue on other peoples Ally’s.

Here’s a link to a couple of videos showing it happening in certain games on a couple of different Ally’s

Ally vibration issue

It’s happened to me on two devices so far, and I’m trying to get hold of a third one soon to test if it happens on that too. So that should rule out the chances of them all being faulty, and then it would be a bug in the software that’s causing it.
