Games crashing without "enable steam input for Xbox controllers" RoG Ally X

Encountered this strange crashing issue(games just do not launch) with Assassins Creed games such as AC:Unity, AC2, AC:Black Flag. After painfully long troubleshooting found out I can fix this crashing and make games launch by enabling "steam input for Xbox controllers" in steam controller settings. As well in same window where you can enable this option I see "Xinput Controller #1" and 5 additional "ASUS Xbox adaptive controller".

Not sure if these multiple controllers listed do cause issues or is there something else causing this weird behaviour. 

RoG Ally X is fresh reinstall after SSD upgrade with all updates installed. Only Bios are reverted to 304 due to causing audio pops.

while og ally shows up as xbox 360 controller ally x shows up as xinput controler with additional controllers in steam menu. How can I fix this problem? It confuses some games and controller do not work.
