My fingerprint scanner doesn't seem to be working properly and I have a feeling it's software related. So far I have:
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers directly from the ALLY X's download page from the ROG website
- Gone through gpedit.msc Admin to disable and re-enable the sensor
- Disabled, rebooted then re-enabled the sensor from the Device Manager section
- Removed the fingerprint sign on option then re-added my fingerprint
- I am currently on the latest version of everything (Windows, My Asus and AC)
I know the hardware is fine because I've had instances where I'd add my fingerprint and it works fine then stops working. I shut my device down completely after using it and I know windows doesn't require a pin after every shutdown because I don't have that problem with my laptop. I am not sure what else to try.

I had the same thing happen on the original Ally today. I upgraded the SSD and did a fresh install from the cloud recovery and it hasn't worked since. I deleted the driver and installed the one from the Asus site which allowed me to (poorly) read and register a finger, but it quit working again. I think windows keeps overriding the driver with a different one.

Thanks for letting me know. I thought about doing a clean install but it takes hours to fine tune and setup the Ally. Plus I just installed a new SSD and did that a little over a week ago.
It's definitely windows software related. Hardware seems to work fine because it works immediately after reinstalling the drivers from Asus or redoing my fingerprint. Once I shutdown my unit, it stops. I have windows automatic driver updates disabled via gpedit.msc but I know windows can still ignore that.
Not entirely sure what to do at this point outside of just hoping the next windows update resolves the issue.

Hi All,
Please try updating the FOCAL Fingerprint Driver to Version V3.5.7911.4326 and check if the issue improves. Thank you.

I also am in the same situation! I have literally done everything I think is possible, have you solved it yet ?

@YongMast3don sorry for the delay. Busy week so I haven't been playing much but no, still an issue. I think it's just windows being windows. I know it works because I have no problem setting it up under settings when I try to remove it and add it again. At this point I've just accepted the fact that I'll prob just have to use my pin.
