Crashes to black screen on ROG Ally X

Several people have reported this issue on Reddit; I've encountered it myself as well.

I created this thread on the ROGAllyX subreddit to try and gather info, no one else has added to it yet but it also has links to all the other threads I've seen about this matter: https://www.reddit.com/r/ROGAllyX/comments/1eoch1d/rog_ally_x_black_screen_crashes_has_it_happened/

Wondering if anyone can shed any more light on the cause and/or workarounds, or if an upcoming update is going to sort it.

Funny enough I installed Bazzite and it's not happening at all. I still need to test on windows to compare though

This has happened for me in Diablo 4 since day 1.  It happens much faster if I run in Custom/Overclock mode. The mode above Turbo. It also happens in Turbo mode but less frequently.
I've tried all the suggestions and none have helped. Reinstalled Windows using Microsoft installer. Still happening.

Please help Asus.

Ever since I reinstalled Windows and did the RTC reset, I haven't experienced a crash since but I only play ZZZ on it most of the time in hour intervals. I'd give the RTC reset a try for sure.

I did the RTC reset. Thank you for the reply. Let hope this helps.

Just happened again. RTC reset did not help. Still black screening in Diablo 4. When it crashed this time the rumble continued to go until I hard power cycled it. So it is crashing so hard it is continuing to output the rumble.

Please figure this out Asus. This did not happen on my Ally OG.

Windows System log shows a bunch of these errors before the crash:

I should add that I’ve installed a bigger M.2 drive. Reinstalled Windows using a thumb drive. Besides the ssd the Ally X is stock.

Hi @yohojones ,

Regarding the vibration issue you mentioned, have you updated to the ROG MCU FW version 314? This should resolve the vibration problem.

As for the Y-key crash issue, I have sent you a private message. Please check your inbox. Thank you!

RTC? Excuse my ignorance.

Real time clock. Just turn off the Ally X and connect the power cord. Press and hold the power button until the right light starts flashing quickly then let go of the power button.
