I have an ASUS RoG Ally Z1E, it has been a great little PC that has become my main rig because of how expensive electricity is where I live for over a year and a half. The Ally is pretty much docked 90 percent of the time and I have created custom profiles to keep it well cooled as the default Turbo mode just isn't good and runs too hot. I have the original revision but my SD card works great because I have always kept it under 75 degrees Celsius even during the heaviest of gaming. I have it on a custom 22 watt profile with custom fan curve that keeps it pretty cool when it was working good for over a year and a half and the battery saver in My ASUS app to protect the battery for long term.
This first issue I'm having now is the left side (when viewing from front) fan seems to have went bad and it started making the typical grinding noise a fan does when it goes bad. But, on the same night this happened, I had opened the rear cover and cleaned it with a can of compressed air used to clean PCs. It had some dust but nothing out of the ordinary since I clean it every few months and the bad fan even seemed to start working good again, so I game on it as usual but then a few hours later, the same noise returned on the left fan but after about 10 seconds, both fans shut off and the temperature rises. I exited the game before the Ally would shut down from overheating and on the Windows desktop, the temperature was in the 50s, so it allowed me to try to tinker with fan curves and such in Armoury Crate SE but no luck to get the fans to run again. I tried uninstalling Armoury Crate SE with the official uninstaller from ASUS and downloaded the latest version of Armoury Crate SE and the AMD graphics driver for the Ally from the ASUS site. I uninstalled the GPU driver with DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) in Safe Mode and then installed the latest AMD driver from ASUS site.
It didn't work, so I reset the BIOS to it's default settings but that didn't work. Then I tried clearing the CMOS by disconnecting the battery cable from the battery, still nothing changes. I tried flashing the BIOS to version 341, still nothing, then went back to 342 which is the latest, nothing yet either. In the course of reinstalling Armoury Crate SE and even after flashing the BIOS, I discovered that both my bumpers don't work anymore. The XYAB buttons even got harder to press, like I have to press down on them hard to get them to register, it didn't do that and all buttons, triggers and thumbsticks worked good prior to this issue. Honestly, the buttons, triggers and thumbsticks feel new because I play mostly docked and on an XBOX Elite Series 1 controller.
So what could the issue be? The only thing left to do is try reinstalling Windows but I rather not if it could be resolved in another way, my internet is very slow and would take days to download my games I play living in a rural area. I want to take it apart to check the connectors of the fans themselves but doing that would void my warranty and I have less than a month left too (exp. July 16, 2025). I would love to RMA it but it was purchased at Best Buy in the US. I now live in Nicaragua and Best Buy has been no help, the Geek Squad "techs" keep telling me to go in store for an RMA repair..... I live thousands of miles from the nearest Best Buy...... I can't even reach ASUS customer service because every time I put my Ally's serial number for the support chat, it always gives me an error and to contact Best Buy for help. What can I do? I'm stuck, I can't even reach ASUS customer support and the one from Nicaragua told me since it was purchased in the US, I had to deal with ASUS of the US or Best Buy. As I can't get any answers or means of shipping to Best Buy from overseas, what can I do to reach out to ASUS in the US? Is there an email address I can send to that I couldn't find? Please help me, I don't really have much funds to pay for an out of pocket repair and I have like less than four weeks left of warranty. Should I just void my warranty and take it apart in hopes of finding the issue or do you think it may be something that shorted on the motherboard and truly needs to be sent to ASUS/Best Buy for repairs?

Based on your description, we recommend bringing the device to a service center for inspection to identify the issue. As devices sold by Best Buy are not covered by international warranty, if you are willing to send the device to the U.S. and have a friend or relative assist with the RMA process locally, please let us know. We will coordinate with our U.S. service team to assist you with the RMA procedure. Thank you.
