Battery drain while plugged in

Cruz1

I have the 2023 Z1 Extreme ROG Ally. Yesterday I updated armory crate to the version that came with the Ally X. After updating the Z1 Extreme, my battery drains while plugged into the wall. The battery symbol shows that it's charging, bit it's not. I'm using the 65W block that comes with the Ally. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Since Monday (22.07.2024) after AC1.5 installation my ROG ALLY is missing 30W Turbo mode and AC says that power adapter is not sufficient to charge - it's like it stopped recognizing power supply mode correctly or something.

I have 3mk hyper charger 140W ((PPS/PD3.0/QC4+).) connected to jasaux docking station HB1201S and then to my ROG ALLY. Everything worked fine till AC 1.5 showed up.

The originall chargera when connected directly works fine.

Hi @Cruz1 @TMavica @Lorge ,

Please try using the uninstall tool to remove Armoury Crate SE and reinstall it to see if there is any improvement?

If the issue persists, please enable the logging feature in Armory Crate SE and connect the charger. Record a video of after charger connect with the charging issue and provide the video, logs, and the following information via private message:

  • Serial Number:
  • BIOS Version:
  • Windows Build Version: (Settings > System > About)
  • Armory Crate SE Mode: (Please test and report if the issue varies under different modes)

I will forward this information to the relevant team for further analysis and confirmation. Thank you.

【This is the file path for the log file, provided for your reference.】
In Armory Crate SE, navigate to "Other - System" and check the "About" page. Click on "App Diagnostics" and select "Log Files" to bring up the Privacy Policy statement. Once the user agrees to the statement, Armory Crate will start collecting diagnostic logs. You can click on "Generate Log Data" to create an encrypted log file (ASUS log file).

Hi.

Reinstallation helped. The 30W Turbo mode is back and i can switch to it. The only thing is that on the battry  charge indicator in command center/armoury crate there is still warning that current power adapter might not properly charge battery.

Best Regrads

Hi @Lorge ,

Could you please provide a screenshot or the content of the warning so we can further investigate? Thank you.

HI @Anbby_ROG.

The screenshot is below. The message which appears when cursor is pointing at battery charge indicator translates as follows: "it's possible that using this adapter may lower the power and discharge the battery during game play. For best experience one should use ROG adapter.

Hi @Lorge ,

This message is a reminder that, in order to ensure optimal performance for ALLY, it is recommended to use the included ASUS original power adapter. As we cannot guarantee the stability of third-party adapters/power banks for charging, using a non-original adapter may result in slow charging. In situations where gaming or high-load operations are involved, it may lead to a gradual decrease in battery levels, preventing effective charging.

The provided information is for your reference. Thank you:)

Hi @Anbby_ROG.

The 30W Turbo mode disappeared again. Nothing changed hardware wise. Maybe the MCU 318 whichi installed is the reason?

Strangely enough the MCU 318 installation is not visible in AC
