Attempting different resolutions

Hi,

I recently bought some older games for the ROG Ally and they require a resolution of 800x600 which, ofcourse, is not an option that I'm aware of. 

Is there any way to solve this?

If not, would connecting the ROG Ally to a monitor allow me to use the Monitors resolutions or restrict me to the ones only allowed on the Ally?

May I ask if you have tried running the games at a resolution of 1600x900 to see if they work? 

If so, could you please share the names of these older games and whether they are native games or run through an emulator? Thank you.

I tried running them at all the resolutions offered and didn't have any other results than the game not opening. 

I'm not sure what they would be classed as, but they are downloads from GOG and are not through any emulators. The games in question are the Heroes Chronicles series.

The only positive results are by downloading external files to give more resolutions.
