Hello everyone, I currently still have the first generation of the ASUS ROG Ally and it still is working amazing. Eventually will be getting my hands on the ASUS ROG ALLY X once I have saved enough money. The issue that I am having is through the ASUS Armoury Crate Application Update Center. I have my ASUS ROG Ally up to date including the latest BIOS update that has released version 339 but this one MCU Firmware update (version: 318 released 2024/07/29) that is in the update center will not update at all. Once I click on the install option it begins installing then prompts me with the firmware update tool stating "The RC71L will be disabled for a few minutes during the update please keep your device plugged into a power source and do not turn it off until the update process is complete" I then click on the update button, and it begins showing me a loading bar below the message. After that it prompts me with "Update complete" and I click the close button to continue. Soon after about 5 seconds I get an Attention Prompt stating "The update will continue after restarting your computer. Please save your files before restarting your system." with the options of restarting the computer now or later. I then click the option "Restart Now" and the computer restarts. As it boots up and loads into Armoury Crate, I can still see in the update center the same exact update MCU Firmware update 318 available. I do not know what is causing this issue I have tried researching on YouTube and reddit but no luck for this exact current version at all. One option I have already tried is turning off device encryption on windows privacy & security settings, but it still did not work. This update has already been tried to be done at least 5 times and no successful solution has worked. If there is anybody out there that can help me or has an input, I would appreciate it.

Hi! Same issue here, but I'm pretty sure it's just a Armory Crate bug, because if you go under settings ->about-> version service, you can see the FW is now xxyyy.318. I reported a (bad) photo taken from my Ally

Same here, used the 1tb out of my ally x, set my old ally up for my son, just hope it won't pop up , "bios update" while he's gaming on it and being a bother, id normally go months without connecting and updating, after amfm update wasn't too worried on new updates, just as long as it'll play what I got , hopefully asus will figure it out and we get a fix , had a 4tb silicon power drive in it and ran fine for me but I hadn't updated to the newer armory crate yet, I got a ally x and had wondered if the new update looks like that on the old ally too and it does, just no cpu boost icon on the old , but on the x it has that and you can put in the quick launch button, when I took the 1tb out of the x it ran fine in my old ally and had the cpu boost icon, you could put in your tabs..but sound was odd on a couple games so I redone it and ran into this problem with 317 to 318 ..do love the speakers on the old ally, think mine may be louder than my ally x ...not sure but I still love the x so far !

Hi @DemonPower658 @wesking6 @Bardialongo @Jaydog1980 ,
Thank you all for reporting the issue where clicking on the MCU FW 318 update repeatedly prompts the update again.
Please temporarily ignore this issue. We will release an update to resolve it. Thank you for your understanding.

I was able to update but since then I've now had 3x blue screen of death at random interval and now sometimes right on d pad won't work. Then it will switch to working but held down with no input. I'll reboot then have 0 controls or rgb lights working, no command center, no armoury crate. Everything else will still be fine but then it could be 5min or 30min later and all the sudden armoury crate loads and everything starts working again. The AC issue started immediately after I downloaded one of your custom boot videos. At this point I was facing potential reset of device, but I reinstalled a few asus things like the framework and deleted hot plug and let update redo install. Using the framework and SC installers to repair didn't work but least made the rgb come back with no controls. I had to use Uninstaller tool then reboot and fresh install and that finally seems to have fixed. The blue screen error doesn't help much because it says online it's intel error, bad memory, or overheating as most likely causes. I was docked when this blue screen happened so that's why it isn't the actual rog ally screen.

Hi @Shadowpaw ,
After uninstalling and reinstalling Armory Crate SE, does the BSOD issue still persist?
If so, please try using cloud recovery to reinstall the system and see if the problem improves. Thank you.

After I did the reinstall, I've had no more BSOD issues but the controller issue still persists, just not constantly an issue now. Everything else is fine besides D-Pad and I thought at 1st it was D-Pad going out but I literally just got my ally back from 3rd RMA for sd card issues so it just went through full testing. I replied to another user that disabling embedded controller and re-enable from command center works for me as a work around when d pad goes haywire. Then for those that the command center / asus armoury crate buttons don't work, opening services and stopping Asus Optimization service and restarting it works to reset it and get it working again. Didn't have 1 issue before the update as I just got the system back so it was a fresh cloud recovery just about 3 weeks ago.
