So Asus, I'm your target demographic. Middle aged dude, disposable income, video game nerd, with young kids growing into video game nerds themselves. All their friends and their friends parents ask me what electronics stuff they should get. I'm that guy.
The first Ally Rog was awesome. I loved it so much, I immediately sold my original RoG on eBay to justify to myself buying the Ally Rog X. Not because I needed the extra money necessarily, but because it's stupid to buy two very similar videos game consoles, especially when you have a smart wife that notices that sort of thing. Moreso, I had to justify it to myself.
But, I did, and I got the new Ally Rog "X". Waited 3 days past the release date to get it, but that's not the point. Blame Best Buy, Delta, and Crowdsrike if you want, but I know you boffed the release, ASUS. That's not the point here tho...but that was lame.
The real issue is that the new RoG Ally X stinks, most likely due to rushed, non-optimized software. I press right on the d-pad, and it goes 2 spaces to the right. I press left, and it goes 2 spaces to the left. I press B to cancel, and it puts me back into a menu instead of going out of it. And the WORST, is the mandatory, 10 second video whenever you open the armoury crate. Cool view and all, kudos to creator, but do we honestly need to sit through all 10 seconds of that EVERY time we open the Crate? Wtf is the purpose of that? And the trickery of the Crate, making you think it can be deleted or removed, only to find out it can't, is really enraging.
This software version of the Crate is a step backwards. I was excited about the X update since it led me to believe ASUS was more serious about handhelds than MSI or Lenovo. But, this back-trotting revision is clearly showing they are in a marketing spec race, and less concerned with actually testing and improving a gaming handheld pc. I'm selling my new RoG Ally X for Steam Deck OLED, since I realized that the UI experience is really paramount to hardware specs when it comes to handhelds. I'm not thrilled that I'll need to fiddle with stuff to get non-Steam games to work on the Deck. But if this new RoG Ally release is a sign of things to come, it's clear that steam is the only brand taking this seriously.

Thank you for your support of the ALLY X. Regarding the button issue, please try using the uninstall tool to remove Armoury Crate SE and reinstall it to see if it improves.
If the issue persists, please enable the log recording function in Armoury Crate SE, record a video of the button issue, and note the time when the button anomaly occurs. Kindly provide the following information along with the video and log files via private message for further verification. Thank you.
【This is the file path for the log file, provided for your reference.】
In Armory Crate SE, navigate to" Settings">"General" and check the "About" page. Click on "App Diagnostics tool" and select "Log Files" to bring up the Privacy Policy statement. Once the user agrees to the statement, Armory Crate will start collecting diagnostic logs. You can click on "Generate Log Data" to create an encrypted log file (ASUS log file).
Thank you for your feedback on disabling the opening video of Armoury Crate SE. I have forwarded this to the internal team for further review and hope to implement this feature in future updates. Thank you.

Thanks for your response, Anbby_ROG. I tried to uninstall and reinstall the Armoury Crate as you suggested, but it did not help. I just sent you a private message with the info you requested, as well as the log file and recording of the issue occurring. As you can see in the recording, any touch of the d-pad or joystick within the Armoury Crate results in moving two spaces in that direction instead of one. It does not occur in other apps, so seems to be a software issue with the Armoury Crate, and not a hardware issue.
It would be amazing if the developers could implement an option to disable the Armoury Crate startup software. Thank you for looking into that.
It also seems to be having issues with handling different input modes (desktop mode vs controller mode) in some games, especially if you change between these two input modes while playing the game.
The new Crate software seems like a good initiative with good intentions, but it's a bit unpolished and buggy, and seems like it needs quite a bit of fine-tuning and optimizations.
