Uhm, I was reading some topics about vsync on different forums while waiting for Gsync, and that wasn't really healthy for me. It seems like some information screwed my understanding of vsync.
So, basically the thing is almost everyone on those topics claims:
1. They don't use vsync if game's fps runs bellow refresh rate, because then they don't have screen tearing.
2. They get 120hz monitors so they don't need to turn on vsync because their fps is always bellow the refresh rate.
Now the question is... Am I too sensitive, or do I have broken monitors (have two different 60hz monitors), or people are blind and lying, or something else? Because whenever my fps goes bellow or above the refresh rate, or even capped at 60 frames and vsync is turned off I do have obvious screen tearing. The only thing that helps (no surprise) is vsync. Otherwise my eyes are bleeding.
And the over question is: If I am not wrong and screen tearing occurs every time when vsync is turned off then how the hell do people don't see it if they can't get constant 120fps @ 120hz? Shouldn't these people experience even more screen tearing because they never get stable 120 frames per second?

No you're not crazy. I hate tearing too and find the same thing on my monitor, always use vsync or a framecap, it has been such a blessing with Dynamic Vsync

Coincidentally, my first question would have been what is you g2g time/what kind of monitor are you using?

Latency is a killer for a lot of people based on the way v-sync (I think) works. Having read through a great many forums, I have had it broken down such that it made sense, but cannot find it to relay to you, sadly. But, for example, my ASUS monitors have a 2ms g2g. This ensures the pixels themselves actually can switch colors, turn off then on (thus redraw) far faster than I can see. From what I gather, for nearly everyone except HP, Dell, no-nome brands, 5ms g2g is the standard rule (smaller number being better). HP, etc. tend to rate anything 8ms g2g "gaming grade." Having used a friends that was rated at 8ms g2g, it sputtered and tore like crazy for me. Even the Acer monitor I eventually donated to my wife did it occasionally at 6ms g2g. I've actually not noticed any screen tearing/stuttering thus far, including in some games I know are known for having the issue (i.e SWTOR and The Last Remnant).

Just figured I'd ask, because how fast a monitor redraws the whole screen is not it's only limiting factor sometimes.
I'm not competing with anyone else. I am only striving to be better than the person I was yesterday.
