ROG GL552VW + ASUS Swift PG248Q?

So I have an Asus ROG GL552VW and I really want to buy a new 144Hz monitor. I was looking at the Swift*PG248Q, and it looks like a nice monitor for the price.*

But when I started looking into the whole DisplayPort thing and stuff, I realized I only have HDMI and USB 3.1 Type-C on my laptop.*

Will 144Hz work with my laptop? Is there any point in buying the monitor?

*I really need help, and I hope any of you can give me some advice. **

I don't see why it wouldn't work 🙂 However you must remember, that you won't have the a full refresh rate on an HDMI cable, which is maximum of 90Hz. While connecting to a display port, it is achievable to 144Hz or higher.
