Laptop performance question

Hello,I noticed that my laptop increases its performance while playing the Witcher 3 with both the battery and the charger plugged in at the same time. If I play with the charger plugged in alone without the battery the game lags like crazy.

I tried this in other high end games like Alan Wake at max settings and was amazed at how smooth it was, the same for this game, now I can play at Ultra Settings (without Hairwors) at a steady 60fps.

My question is, is this normal and is there a way for me to get this kind of performance while only playing with the charger plugged in without using the battery?

My specs are:

ASUS ROG G771JW

i7-4270HQ CPU @ 2.60Ghz (8 CPUs)

RAM: 16GB

Nvidia Geforce 960M with 4GB DDR5

I'm a bit baffled as to why you would ever remove the battery from your laptop while it's plugged in, to be honest - doing so doesn't really serve any purpose.

Generally speaking however, you would normally find that your laptop's performance suffers a bit when it's on battery power alone - and this is perfectly normal; as far as I understand there should be no difference between a game playing with the mains adapter plugged in without the battery and playing it with both the mains adapter and a battery.

On a purely nit-picking level, your i7-4720HQ is just one CPU, but with 4 cores and 8 threads. Not 8 CPU's. 😉
