Laptop Performance Is Getting Worse

I don't know why. I was able to play Team Fortress 2 at 120 FPS about 11 months ago. Then it just went downhill from there. I had this laptop since December of last year, and it was really good at the start. Now i'm only getting 20 to 60 FPS.

Have you checked your temperatures?
If your performance is getting worse it sounds like your lappy is overheating.
You should download any program monitoring CPU. Launch game for few minutes and check log file for any signs of throttling or high temp.

You should precisely clean your fan blowers.

I have old MSI laptop which is overheating like hell and your problem looks the same like i had with my MSI.
If you are lucky then cleaning your fans will do the job.
I wasnt that lucky so the only way I was able to play anything on that MSI was completely removing bottom cover and put laptop on REALLY GOOD cooling pad.
What laptop do you have?

I had a Lenovo laptop that has an i7 4700mq in it.. it gets up to 89-90+ degrees Celsius..

the solution: i literally (on accident though) broke a colored wire that connected the fan to the motherboard and now my fan is on full speed constant 24-7.. i can not stop the fan.. i will have to somehow reconnect by splicing or soldering a connection back to the connector pin of the wire i pulled out to control the fan again.. whoops! but my laptop is cooling haha..

Sounds like it could be a heat issue, like most people have said here.. Check your fans and see the temp of your pc
Make sure you don't have any process in the background that could possibly be slowing down the game

90° is not dangerous but it begins to be excessive. 100° becomes the limit.

Check the temps. Also has this problems occured in other games? If not, then it may also may be the NIC or wireless. Team Fortresses performances is also tied to network speeds as well. If other games have suffered, then it's heat or a driver/software conflict.
