Crysis 3 Low Fps

My specs are in my signature. I have my cpu at 4.6Ghz and my GTX 660 Ti is bumped up a bit too. My Windows Index scores are awesome. It should be running no problem. I have check ipconfig and have disabled all startup programs and services I do not need. There is no reason for me to have such low frame rates. I don't know what they are exactly, but it is enough to make to stop playing. It is fine when you are moving slowly in the shadows, but when the fight breaks out so does the LAG! I should be able to run this game on normal graphics settings without overclocking and I can't even play it on low. All settings in the Nvidia control panel are default. Powersaving is turned off(bios and OS). Any ideas?

I have kinda fixed it. I had to lower ALLOT of setting in the Nvidia control panel, it still lags out from time to time, but for the most part is ok. This is not cool, I should be able to max this thing out, or close to it. I just can't figure out what the bottleneck is. Ideas?

I got it. It is the refresh rate. For some reason this game is un-playable using my native resolution and refresh rate.

hey thanks!,ive had crysis 3 since relese and had noticed very random stutter or choppy frame rate, seems alittle better with newer drivers and maybe game updates have made a little difference.
anyhow i have been playing tonight and getting in to single player but i just know something does not feel/look right when scrolling left to right or up and down..so i did what you had done and in nvidia control pannel dropped the refresh rate from 120 to 100 and now is silky smooth with less tearing...weird right! but now i also remember it is the same in modern warfare 3..is just not quite smooth enough when using 120.

so far these are the only 2 games that suffer from this weird bug but thanks so much,if i hadnt of came to this forum i would never of tried it as i had forgotten all about modern warfare 3 .

Even 3X GTX 570s in triple SLI at 1920X1080 drop below 30 fps at some points in this game. While it is better optimized than previous Crysis iterations, make no mistake, this game NEEDs GPU horsepower if you want sustained 50+ FPS at hi-resolution.

Are you sure? Because no matter how much GPU grunt you have, it's not going to be consistenly accessing them. I think it's a poorly optimised game myself. You need an absolute beast of a system to run it on all settings with v-sync at the moment. To me, it feels like it's been deliberately coded to bring your machine to it's knees, which should never be the goal.

That first level just rapes my machine. And my machine is good. But they've done lots of things they didn't need to do to artificially decrease the frame rate.

That may be because of the low VRAM on the gtx 570. Tri SLI should have enough horsepower to drive this game sans 1200ish MB or VRAM.

Native Res is 1366x768 60Hz. I am having to run 1366x768 30Hz. I can run everything on medium now no problems at all. I had to change the res in the Nvidia control panel to 30Hz and it fixed all of my problems.

Another update on this incase anyone is having a similar problem. It was all in refresh rate. I made the mistake of setting my resolution through windows, when I should have been setting it through Nvidia Control Panel as it has more options for any given resolution. I am still playing with settings, but here are the results so far. Before Crysis 3 would not play at all, now I can play on High, and FarCry3 would only work on the lowest setting, and now it plays perfectly on Ultra. Huge difference in performance, but still feel that there is something else bottlenecking somewhere.

With refresh rate adjusted in the Nvidia Control Panel and V-Sync turned off the GTX 660Ti OC can run Crysis 3 on max settings.
