Can any one help ?

Can't run 4- Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming edition cards ?

It runs 3 no problem but the fourth slot is not picking up the card , not shore if this is an issue with the board
or some thing I'm doing.
The board is ASUS Rampage V Extreme it is brand new . i7 - 5820k 3.3Ghz 15MB Chip.

gigabit say that there board won't support 4 card's whit i7-5820 chip but asus don't mention any thing ?
would that be why???

Do you have the M.2 slot populated?

If you have then can only have 3-way because PCIe x8 4 (the 6th slot) shares bandwidth with M.2. It reduces the PCIe x8 4 from x8 to x4

No I don't haven got into that yet don't no enough about the tech.

If you say it's brand new - where did you get the i7 5820K from and maybe speak to the customer service and see if you could do something about it.

i7 5930K has 40 lanes and 4-ways and has 6-core and 12 threads
i7 5960X also has 40 lanes and 4-way and has 8-core and 16 threads.

If you're just intending to game then i7 5930K is enough.

I brought it form msy they said it would work !!!
I'm going down there to day NOT HAPPY!!!!

Spent near on twelve grand on this would have brought the better chip they talked me out of it ?

Thank for your time and info

There you have it. 28 lanes, PCIe x8 4 is disabled and 3-way with i7 5820K. It's not Asus' or other manufacturers' responsibility unless you contact Asus support for clarification before buying. It's a pain I understand but it pays to research before buying.

So msy claimed to you that i7 5820K is good enough for 4 graphic cards and talked you out of the other cpus?

Next time, if unsure about anything go here or other forums for other products and ask. You're very welcome and good luck and hope you get something out of it.

Hello

For future reference being limited to 3-way SLI when using a 5820 CPU is clearly stated both in the specifications and the included manual for the motherboard.
