It wont be long, the ads will be as intrusive as they are when we are browsing or playing that kind of games that are free and always prompts to go to a website.
Next is the VR adBlock, now we will be adding plugins or filters to block them, and now and then its functionality will be broken and will be another pain in the ass.
Then, marketing about this and that, buy this virtual apartment that has better light and its less cold at winter, go to that burger house because the burger is juicer, or go to that mansion because the bunnies are sexier .
Later we will enter the micro-transaction ERA, where we will do some kind of virtual social service for someone, to be paid with virtual money, to buy a virtual weapon or something, or if you like spending pay some hot cash for the ultra-super-duper-hyper-electric-molten-frozen cape so that you will be virtually cooler in your VIRTUAL REALITY.
Now its GABE's time to rub his 3D FACE between your eyes with the 99.92% steam sales of this game and that game, where he will collect your money like he is the freaking tax office and you will end up with a **** ton of VR(-now versions) games, that you will never play because you don't have enough real life hours and cant buy virtual hours (at least for now, maybe it will be the expansion of VR or something).
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaand now for us the indigent proletarians of hardcore PC gaming that use our overclocked computers for heating at winter will end up playing in a custom-made VR made out of card-box the open-source alternatives because we "support" the open-source community and not because we cannot afford ****.
Good Luck to all
