New SimCity is out TOMORROW! Is anyone buying it? What's the general expectation for lost time/work/relationships?

Just bought it, Crysis 3 and Sims 3 University.

I've been burned with EA day 1 purchases in the past.

I'm a little worried :3

*sigh*

Yea this ARS thing and complaints about day 1 login issues and lost games has put me off entirely. I'll give this one a 6 month wait I think.

If you go on Amazon and look it up, look at the reviews...665 of them and it's average is 1 star. It's even the best seller. Apparently everything is based on a server (your save games, etc) and it's done nothing but screw up. The main complaint is you sit there for 20 minutes waiting for it to say can't connect. Sounds like something to avoid for a few months until they iron it out.

I picked up Simcity 4 yesterday (lol) and already am having fun with it...it's apparently still rated by gamers better than the new one too.

If you buy an EA game then you already know this is going to happen. If you buy a game right after launch then it's practically a guarantee.

Have people seriously not learnt?

I´m probably going to (I know it ain´t allowed to write about it here and mod remove it if you want) download a cracked version of the game until EA makes this playable offline, after testing the beta I was 150% sure the launch was going to make a lot of problems and it ain´t just worth it. I don´t see the reason to force a single player game to be online. I know I said I was thinking of buying it but EA screwed up, like most of the latest games they released.

I love how Ea's slogan when Simcity 4 starts up is "challenge everything", yeah, including your patience apparently lol

Server issues.. that's nothing new for any online game on day of release. Guild Wars 2 was horrid for connection issues and servers being down, Diablo 3 had log in issues, plus there's heaps of other games not mentioned. \

Gamers should know by now this is how things go on release day, and not expect some magical flawless release with every game. That's what patches are for.
