I was wondering, are there ANY kinds of improvements in that driver when compared to the last beta?

I have updated my board with latest firmware first time I had installed CR drivers and I can say I don't have any problems caused from it. Only problem I have is caused from dolby home theatre because it mix my channels to surround even that option is unchecked. Its true that I don't use dts surround or any other enhancements instead of equalizer which is included in DHT, volume leveler and dialogue enhancer because I like the sound like it was meant from the producer to be (music = stereo; dolby digital = 5.1/7.1 native and dts = 5.1/7.1 native). The only thing I don't tried was to play a game like BF3 and using the mic to talk with someone. So I think anyone should panic concerning that firmware update.

Audio Card Model Name: ASUS XONAR Phoebus
Audio Driver: ver 7.0.1.29(3.13-CR) [2013/03/25]
Firmware: 1015
DirectX: DirectX11
CPL: 3.0.0.6
GfX: 6.0.12.118 | 2012/1/18
LFX: 6.0.12.118 | 2012/1/18
Win7 x64 SP1 + all updates on 06.04.13

1.My Battlefield Bad Company2 and Battlefield 3 soundbug was not fixed (Footsteps, shooting are dominating the right headphone).
2.ASIO problems (input latency, Presonus Studio One,Overloud TH2 is not working, others).
3.UI translation with same mistakes.
4. + (new exclusive bug)
DTS Surround Enhancement and Bass Enhancement sliders:
Now when you change those settings, sound mutes for second with every slider move.
So now its hard to feel the difference between positions.
Slider settings range was altered also, now it has less positions.
In previous BETA driver all DTS sliders worked just fine (at least for me), don`t know why it was ruined in this latest driver.

The only positive changes i have:
*Now Phoebus UI profile and Dolby UI profile interacts with each other.
*Phoebus volume slider is no more locked.

God, Nvidia and a bugged firmware update - sounds pretty logical. 😉

Have fun with your card.

I debated the Phoebus from all the mess of complaints here. I decided to try it and I have ZERO regrets. It has been the best addin sound card I've had in years.. Since the old Audigy 2 days or older..

in the meanwhile i brought my phoebus back to the dealer an got me a soundblaster z.
no problems with installation. and also sounds better because it does not mess around with the lower frequencies like the phoebus does.
and last but not least the controlpanel functionality and usability is much better then the phoebus one.
the phoebus panel looks like "quick and dirty" programmed (just make it work somehow) and the sb panel is well structuriced and the buttons do what they should do.

that was what i did when i first installed the card.
but then there was the driverupdate which did some bad stuff and the first answer from telephone support was:
maybe the usb connection is bad.... :-)))) the guy did not even know that this was a pci-e card!!!!

after i asked him to look a bit closer in product specifications he found out that.

his next suggestion was to reinstall windows.
after asking him if i got this right and he he told me that i did i decided not to spend several days with reinstalling windows, applications and patches and returned that card to the store.

so just wait until driver update and then please tell us your feelings about the product after applying it.

I think it is just a hit and miss with Asus's support when you call. Some actually have a clue to what is going on and others will flip through support booklets or search on the pc screen. And it isn't hard to tell which one he or she is after a few answers from them. But this is a common thing from all support tech these days.

@ soran, glad you are enjoying the SB sound card. Seems the support for the Pheobus is just gone. Most are tired of playing the waiting and fix game with Asus on this one. I tried the latest driver, still seen numerous issues. Removed the card once again and haven't looked back. It is more of a paper weight now then a useable device. Glad you had enough time to return it. As you can't sell or much less give this Pheobus away now.

All the new sb cards are only 5.1, shame... My Phoebus is great after almost 2 months. Hope it stats this way.

All the new sb cards are only 5.1

that's true, but as long as it is stable....

by the way: you have 7+1 speakers and use this feature? otherwise this would be useless for you.

I have connected my card to 5.1 speakers and additionaly to 7.1 dts/dd receiver.
when switching on dd or dts there will also be 7.1 as this is being done by the receiver.
