EQ software needed. Any Advice?

So I just got the phoebus card - working great, sounding great. My only qualm right now is that running W7 there is no EQ in the rog driver options. I know the Dolby PCEEv4 has an EQ, but it cannot EQ for Xear Surround. I am using Xear surround as that seems the best option for virtualizing 7.1 surround on my headphones from 7.1 audio source.

So are there any EQ apps that can work with Phoebus and Xear? Tried one briefly but couldn't get it to work. Ideally said app would have a compressor/limiter function that could work with the live signal from my game. Really kind of surprised this is not supported in the driver itself as it seem quite useful for gaming. Why? - Well if I turn the volume up to hear soft footsteps well (FPS), then I shoot my gun or something explodes its soooo loud. A lot of headroom, but its too loud. It's like really being at war, loud ass explosions booming on my 250 ohm cans, jadeing me, shell shock incoming. So I lower the volume. Hence the desire for a compressor/limiter to put the kibosh on the full signal loud events.

Any advice?

Would you consider JRiver Media Center. It does have a full trial capabilities and works well with Asus Pheobus for me. Plugins are available and Parametric EQ. Have a go with that.
