It only changes the volume of your headphones, when connected to the control unit. If you really wanted to, I guess you could rig up speakers to it and get them to work. It's not the intended mode of operation however.

well i cant just simply add my speaker because its need 3 cables (ye its a 5.1 surround system)
was just an idea 😉

Let`s face facts:
Phoebus is a non-user-friendly product.
It`s packed with various technologies but without convenient way to use it.
Phoebus can`t control system volume, but cheap chinese keyboard can.
I asked Asus to implement this feature 5+ month ago with no luck.
It would be impossible to control system volume (only headphone) if Phoebus uses "true variable resistor"(potentiometer) volume knob.
But there is no potentiometer in Phoebus remote box, volume is controlled by detector and software.
There is no reason why this can`t be done in new driver. They don't want to improve software usability.

Compare Dolby UI and Phoebus UI.
Dolby UI is user friendly.
You can peek Dolby profile fast, right from system tray,in two clicks with almost no mouse movement.
And then try to pick DTS Ultra PC2 or Xear, you will not be able to do it quick.
Phoebus UI is not user-friendly if you use it.

Asus don`t hear customers, they don`t need your complains or your ideas how to improve product.
All they need is your money.

Hell, even just using the push button switch on the control knob to switch between speakers and headset would have been nice. But no... it just mutes the mic so I have to constantly reconnect my headset whenever I want to use it.

It's absolutely sad that such little thought went into usability for what should have been a "flagship" product. A year between driver updates... give me a break.

yeah sadly
This was the first and the last ROG Thing i have bought.
Even my mouse is able to change the system volume.
i will say at MSI ... <= got a Nvidia N570 Twin Frozr III OC Edition from them which is very awesome
