Hello everybody! i really need some help, i recently updated from win 8 to 8.1, and of course my drivers goofed up on my phoebus. I understand that there are no official windows 8.1 drivers, but ive read that the win 8 drivers work fine. Anyhow, i went ahead and planned a reinstall, i used driver fusion (sweeper) and rid my system of all asus driver entries, then i went into add/remove programs and began the uninstall. It makes it about 3/4 into the uninstall and my whole system locks on me. I have to do a hard reset... Ive tried everything, and i really dont want to do back up and dump my OS :P.

I cant find a trace of anything phoebus related on my PC, where does the problem lie?... Please guys, any help would be great!

It is a great program and very handy. Glad you got it sorted out. Let us know how you like the sound card after the BF4 game play.

Hello, I was recently having the same problem aswell after upgrading to win 8.1. I had the same exact problem with uninstalling the driver but after hours of trying and banging my head against the wall I uninstalled it somehow. Now, when I try to install the win 8 drivers, every single time I get an error. It's the following:
Please help =(

That's when traces (such as registry values) of the previous install remain, try some ccleaner or driver sweeper.

Both of the applications i listed clean out the programs, files left behind and the registry. Download one or both and try them. One is free and one is a trial though.

Ok, the thing is that the driver is already uninstalled so when I go on those two uninstaller programmers you mentioned they are not there. I have also checked the device manager and it says that the soundcard is High Definition Audio Device so I'm guessing there's no drivers atm. I have used ccleaner and also driver sweeper but still I get the same error all the time!

Perhaps clear out the %temp% folder and reinstall the driver. Then use one of the programs to remove all of it.

I can't reinstall the driver in the first place, that's what I'm trying to do.

Ok, I managed to install the drivers. What I did was that I had to manually delete the registry keys. I went to regedit and searched for C-Media and deleted everything that was related to the drivers. Now I have the driver back FINALLY. Back to BF4!
