Buy a Phoebus or stick with D2X?

Given that I very recently bought a D2X sound card, I want to know if I should just hang onto it or if I should buy the Phoebus when it comes out?

What are you plugging in downstream?

(Subjective) Depending upon your phones/speakers the Phoebus is more adept at the frequency extremes and more spatial. With cheaper transducers you may not notice as much but I sure can notice on my Senn 580s which marry fairly well to the sonic signature of the TPA6120A2.

Currently I have a Creative Fatal1ty headset but that'll soon be a Razer Tiamat 7.1.

Those Razer's look like good phones, the Phoebus should provide a bit more drive and separation over the D2X, it just comes down to whether or not you want to spend the extra money for a bit more audio quailty...

I'll stay with my D2X then as it sounds like I won't notice much of a difference (pardon the pun). Maybe when (if?) my D2X breaks down I'll look at getting a Phoebus.

When does the Phoebus comes out? And how much does it costs? I've been looking it in search engines like amazon of how much it costs and I cant find any recent products of it... And also will Asus let us buy thunderbolt? Cos I'd like something affordable to purchase like a hybrid of sound card/ethernet adapter in one PCIxE at least ill have room if I choose a 3-way SLI GPU bridge... heh heh...

And off the topic is it true that I saw on the news online a gov... going to pull the plug on the internet for a month? Or how long will it be out?

It funny .. they never seem to release New tech that isnt New. ... i'd go with .. 'buy'.c.

Hey Raja.

In a bit of a dilemna here if you could help.

Only just got a D2X last month, and bought a set of PC-350's this month.

looks like the PC-350's are 150ohms so could do with a soundcard with a headphone amp (which I believe the D2X doesn't have).

So looking for an upgrade. Was looking at the Phoebus (main use is for gaming - I hardly listen to music) but its specs seem very similar to the D2X other than a hardware amp. The alternative is the STX - but I noticed whilst its got better audio, I'm not sure how it will be for gaming, and for software support as its quite old now too.

Any recommendations? Stick with the D2X, or Get a Pheobus/STX?

thanks in advance

PS - I mainly play BF3 and CSS:Go and also have a set of Logitech x2300's which are used as normal PC speakers (headphones are for gaming) so would like to be able to connect them both to the soundcard and flip between them using software.

nvm got my stx today 🙂

Can't believe Asus have priced the Phoebus as high as they have when the STX is still better for audio quality!

Got no need for 7.1 or 5.1 so the STX was the better option.
