Some devices are unable to connect to wifi provided by TUF Gaming AX4200 router

I purchased Asus TUF Gaming AX4200  as a replacement of my outdated Asus DSL N17U. (Moreover I am not using DSL connection anymore.)

Situation:

  • Some devices will not connect to wifi offered by AX4200.
  • Other devices work flawlessly. (incl. Windows, mobile phones, androids, Chromebooks as well as home appliances like dryer, washer or fridge.)
  • Originally I planned to go for 5GHz wifi only but home appliances often support only 2.4GHz network (resp. 802.11b/g/n), hence I ended up with 2 SSIDs.

What happens:

  • Some devices fail to connect any of those SSIDs:
    • Google Nest Hub (Supporting 802.11b/g/n/ac
    • iRobot Roomba supporting only 2.4.GHz
    • Google Nest Hub Max (802.11b/g/n/ac) .... to be tested

What I expect to happen:

  • They'll be able to connect at least 2.4GHz SSID.

What I have tried so far:

  • Disabling Ai security: No effect.
  • Shortening the network passwoord: No effect.
  • Disabling 802.11ax for 2.4GHz SSID (whatever it means): No effect.
  • Provide the additional (2.4GHz) SSID from the legacy DSL N17U: Devices are able to connect to such SSID flawlessly
  • Factory reset of Nest Hub and Roomba: No effect.
  • Align settings of 2.4GHz network on TUF Gaming AX4200 with settings on DSL N17U + disable extra features: No effect.
  • Taking devices closer to router: No effect.
  • Narrowing range from 40MHz to 20MHz: No effect.

So far it looks that devices' attempst to join wifi network  are "rejected". Any idea, what happens and how to solve it?

Thanks!

There's a major flaw in the 388_33144 firmware for these routers and others.  Manually rolling back to the prior version fixes these issues.  - and turn off auto update of the firmware.

Thanks. Just did the rollback and issue is disappeared. I cannot believe I wasted half of the day on troubleshooting this. 🙄
