RT-BE88U Works Fine, But Speed Test Menu Will Not Run

I'm the proud new owner of a RT-BE88U router. I have it all configured and working great in terms of my web server is online, my PCs get good speed test results, my USB Samba shared drive works, etc.

But I was curious to run the router's own speed test menu since it's directly connected to my fiber ONT, and it produces the error. I have internet connectivity, so this error is baffling. Is this feature not fully implemented yet?

I am also noticing the network monitoring feature shows no traffic. It should be busy. Maybe this is why speedtest isn't seeing any results?

Interesting pattern beginning to emerge.... it seems like all of the administrative functions of the router lack internet access, even though it is passing internet to connected clients.

I tried to check the firmware status and the router could not connect to the server:

At the top right of your attachment, you need to turn on that app.  Three our of those 4 pages requires it be operational.

I clicked on the APP button and it brought up QR codes so I downloaded the app for my phone and tried the speed test there, but got the same result.

Also, it fails to check for new firmware. It's like the administrative functions have no internet access, despite internet available to connected clients. Baffling.

ne more thing to check, on the System page, there may be a restore tab.  Look at that and see if it has an option to restore while clearing all that data.

This would reset the router.

But that would disconnect me from the router and lose an hour of setup work that I did to configure the port forwarding for my server and steaming video servers. Also, since I'm on a subnet, the router would revert to the 50.1 subnet, making it unreachable and requiring me to hook a laptop to it again to reprogram it.

There must be some other reason why these bells and whistles don't work. It's not important enough, as I can speed test from a browser. I just thought it's be interesting to see what the real speed is, not from behind another router on a separate subnet.

My PRTG Network Monitor tells an interesting story. I installed the Asus router around 5pm yesterday. The short down spike is that. Then for an hour, it shows the connection is UP. Then it shows DOWN after that, but then adds a blue graph I have never seen with the old router.

I have internet, speed tests are good. Server is online.

I'm not that familiar with PRTG, but maybe it's detecting something about the data stream that makes the router's admin features think it's offline.

Traffic analyzer is ON but after 24 hours, still no activity--and this is a busy network.

Oddly, I researched the problem and found the answer on a TP-Link support site of all places... the solution was to change from the ISP's DNS server to another DNS server.
