RT-BE88U Wi-Fi Issue: IoT Devices Offline, Wi-Fi Tablets Cannot Reach Many Websites

I woke up this morning and discovered both my a/c units were offline and I could not turn on the a/c.

I power cycled the a/c units at the circuit breakers, rebooted the Asus router, but they are still offline.

Then I found out that my tablets connected to the wif-fi provided by the Asus cannot access many websites, except Google and a few social media sites. The rest "took too long to respond". I switched to a wi-fi from my old router on the inner tier of the network and can access all the websites.

My wired PC connected via CAT6 can reach the web. It's just wi-fi that's suddenly filtering the internet and the criteria is curiously related to test websites like Pingdom, Speedtest and IsitDownRightNow

Also my Cloudedge security cameras are all offline. Basically any device on the Wi-Fi SSID that my Asus router is broadcasting.

It was working fine yesterday. What could be the cause of this?

Mark

While waiting for ASUS to fix bugs like (it worked fine yesterday but not today,) hopefully setting up automatic reboot will keep things running until ASUS releases the next firmware update.

You may also want to send a Feedback log prior to setting up automatic reboot so may capture the issue for them...

I made immediate use of the scheduled reboot. And PRTG Network monitor confirms a ping failure at the precise time I set the router to reboot on a sunday morning. So that is working.

I posted a separate thread about how the first time I used the feedback feature of the router to send a question to Asus, the router's interface locked up and then after power cycling the router, I could not access much of the internet. I managed to restore function by re loading the configuration that I had saved prior to the incident. Some bug with the Feedback feature, so I won't dare try that again.

That's, terrible.  (I've been having a rough week).  Sorry I forgot you posted that about Feedback.

I have a hunch the IoT devices went offline because I didn't have my DHCP starting address setup correctly. It's possible that some static IP devices came online and took the IP addresses from IoT devices. Just a hunch though. I moved the DCHP start from 1 to 130, to leave the static devices alone and avoid possible conflicts.

Sorry to hear you're having a rough week. I've been having a rough year, starting with a fire, then a heart attack, and a host of financial problems. Year of the Dragon. Ugh.
