RT-AC88U losing internet connection but stays connected?

Hello,

since some months ago I'm experiencing a very strange issue. I purchased the RT-AC88U in July 2016 and it has been performing pretty well until November 2017. Then a very annoying issue is happening:

Once every 3-4 days, the Internet drops for about 1-3 minutes and then it resumes again. The router doesnt say anything relevant in the logs (no WAN dropped or WAN restored) and it stays connected in the web UI.

I have tried to reset, hard reset, change firmware to Merlin and to DD-WRT and the problem is still there.

My question is if it can really be the router that is malfunctioning. I will try with another router that I got from my ISP this week and see if this error occurs again but do you have any suggestions?

An off-topic question, can you tell me if this card supports hosted network? (Mobile hotspot ). I can't find an answer anywhere and I'm thinking of buying one 😞
