ROG Rapture GT-BE98 Pro wifi speed

Hi ,

First I bought TP-Link Archer GE800, which was really good but has some minor issues, so I returned it and got me Asus ROG Rapture GT-BE98 PRO, as it's supposed to be the ultimate gaming router for the time being.
so far am bit disappointed , and regret doing this switch

Anyway
My internet speed is 1gb, I configured the router to use smart connect using the 4 bands, also MLO.

checking the internet speed in my phone is good, but when connecting to PS5, the speed I get only 120-145 mb.

I checked the speed using cable , speed was good.

there is nothing between the ps5 and the router, and only around 3-4 meters between them.

I tried to disable the smart connect to connect the 5GH directly
also I tried factory reset
nothing worked

how to fix that??

Sorry to read of your issue!

A quick Google search says the PS5 defaults to 2.4 GHz.  But I'm assuming it performed a lot better with the Archer GE800?

Is the firmware updated to the latest?

EDIT-  If you have MLO enabled did you create the Legacy IoT network, and try to connect the PS5 to that SSID?

I checked the PS5, it's connected to the 5GHz.

And yes the archer GE800 speed was much better, it used to reach around 500 mbs.

The firmware is updated, but just got an idea to reinstall it manually and see the result

Also I'll check loT as suggested

We have seen other threads where speeds, in general, were at unacceptable levels.  You can look through different settings, such as QoS, which might be limiting your realized speeds.

The Game Acceleration section may provide some guidance.

I did not see any reference to Wi-Fi 7 on the PS5 spec. page.

Do you have other devices which are showing a reasonable link speed?

I know the PS5 doesn't support wifi 7 or 6GHZ, but still the speed i am getting is so slow for wifi 6 or 5GHZ

i prioritized the device on Game Acceleration, i also the QOS for gaming

still , nothing changed

the only problem is only with the PS5, i tried 2 devices , both the same

my old desktop with 2017 wifi card gives 700+ MB
my mobile 800+ MB
even when i go behind concrete wall, and more far the PS5, still i get aroun 200-300 MB

One more thing to consider is the position of the PS5 to the router.  Have you tried picking it up and moving to different locations?   If you do move, give it some time to stabilize after the move.

Keep in mind, the signal from the router goes out perpendicular to the direction the Antenna tips are pointing.

I tries to locate the PS5 directly next to the router, still nothing changed

Also tried to forget about the speed , and try to play online, , it was a disaster
the lag was so bad

the question is, why only the PS5 has this issue? if something was wrong witih the router than all devices will work poorly,
but only the problem with PS5

Have you tried forgetting the SSID for your network on the PS5 and then reestablish?

You might check the log when you connect and see if anything stands out.

I found if I change the security only to ( WPA3 PERSONAL)  I get better speed, it can reach 300 mb.

Still should be better,  and not stable, for example if restarted the Ps5, it shut down and on later, not sure I'll get that speed.

So far, as I found out, part of the issue is the security.

WPA 2 should be faster, it is a less complex encryption.  Have you tried it?  (But unfortunately less secure).
