Hi

20 day ago i bought this router but the 2.5 wan port not functioning. I factory reset a few times and nothing.

My conection is 25g up 1 down and i need PPPoE and vlan to connect to my ISP.

If i put the cable in the 10g wan port its working with IPTV , if i try to change port to 2.5g a message show up ,,,if u change to 2.5g IPTV will be disable.

Port 2.5 as lan not working

Not wan not lan.

This router support 2.5 wan IPTV ?

Or its a bug

Thank u all

No it dosen't use vpn, only iptv ,

I talked with asus suport and they tell me that the 2.5wan/lan port is for switch router etc.

It cannot work as a wan and activate IPTV.

It is posible a thing like this?

In router manual say u can configurate 2.5 wan as a wan or lan to eliberate the 10g port.

Asus say no

I don't what to think anymore

Sad that a 500 euro router not doing 2 simple thinks

And before i buyed i read alot of reviews and nobody mention this 2.5 port , it is possible that profesional reviewers never tested all the ports and what they can do,

I'm not sure why but PPPoE and VID typically go hand in hand so to speak.  I do not understand why, BUT ASUS/Broadcom/Whoever it is who decides has moved this setting from the WAN section (which makes more sense as it is an ISP requirement) to the LAN section.  If @scribus is able to get it to work on the 10 GbE port, then (s)he should be able to get it to work on the 2.5 GbE WAN/LAN port.  I also noticed that VID (VLAN ID from Google) typically is lumped together with IPTV.  I guess the implementation of IPTV involves VLANs somehow)....

@scribus  If you notice WAN / LAN 1 2.5 GbE and 10 GbE are tied together?  While they do both work simultaneously, I suggest you leave the 10 Gb port empty while trying to set it up.  Have you tried this way?  If you are eventually successful in setting the VID on the 2.5 GbE port, then after utilize the 10 GbE LAN 1 port....

I left 10gbe port empty and connected to 2.5.

Same error, its disable iptv an iti tell me use 10gbs port .

On the vlan tab i see a voice : 2.5wan/lan:This port is using by external switch port ""

What that mean? Its entering in conflict with the iptv setting?

This I suspect is because you set up 10 GbE port with VID, then you try to move to 2.5 GbE port.  So currently 10 GbE is WAN with VID, then it warns you 2.5 GbE is LAN mode, (typically LAN Ethernet is "network switch").

I think I can better rephrase this.  Both 10 GbE 1 and 2.5 GbE 1 can not be used as WAN at the same time.

EDIT-  It is still a bug (that should be fixed) with the firmware.  You are not asking to run both as WAN, you are trying to switch, but it is responding that 2.5 Gb port is currently LAN mode.  Newer firmware allows dual WAN with same type of ports, so I don't know why it is complaining...

E put the cable wan port 10gbe and the 2.5 is empty and internet working.

Put the cable in 2.5gbe and 10gbs empty not working.

I try factory reset multiple times, first with wan port 10gbs and worked , then factori rest again i pot the cable on port 2.5 and finish the config . Login normaly in to the router setings and put the iptv number from ispn and I click apply . The messagge is the same , to put the cable in 10gbs port,

I don't understand why :(((

Yes this seems a problem with the firmware.  It should work...

I believe the problem is with the hierarchy of ASUS and Broadcom how they get their firmware.  If I understand correctly with respect to WiFi and LAN they get the programming from Broadcom.  So even if ASUS is aware we are having issues they still have to ask Broadcom to fix it.  Seems like this process can take much time.

There is a problem with the firmware or hardware.  It is not your fault and I am sorry you have this issue.  I know 10 Gb Ethernet switches (even unmanaged) are still expensive it may be the solution you need?  Connect the other 10 Gb Ethernet to a switch.  I like TRENDnet because they are a US company and they make good switches.  Is Zyxel an option there in Italy?

I will wait for an update.

Thank you very much for support
