I see there is a beta version of the 9.0.0.x firmware. Will we ever see a stable version? I see that a new firmware has not been released for a long time. Has support already been discontinued?

So is it still supported?

Officially yes it is still supported. (Not sure they are doing a good job honoring that "support" to be honest). ASUS products are supported until they get added to the EOL list. (If you happen to purchase an EOL product it is still covered by their product warranty for the time listed, but it means more or less they do not feel obligated to update/support EOL products).
I'm sad that they couldn't somehow combine the latest release firmware with that beta to make a new beta for us to beta test for them...

Are you having a specific problem you need fixed?
The AXE16000 has been on the market for many years so firmware updates may only be needed for some type of change.

Many years? Two years ago people were still asking for the release date of this router on Reddit. The first reviews for the AXE 16000 were dated june 2022. Additionally, routers of the same category which are slightly newer have already received a firmware based on asuswrt 5.0, so I don't see why this router is lagging behind the other models of the same family (eg. GT AX-6000)
Do I have specific problems? Yes. The game radar is still visualizing Diablo III and the WIFI Radar has been marked as a security issue, which has been removed in asuswrt 5.0
Not to mention specific UI problems under different functionalitits.
Is it ridiculous that a €600 router becomes unsupported after just 2 years?

You are correct, mine shows 2022. The fact there is a Beta does mean they are still supporting it. Another firmware version could be released in the next few months.
Are you going to try the Beta?

The last Beta I see for that router is from March 2023. There are two normal updates after that.
If you have the check for Beta firmware enabled, it will go back and pick up that old Beta and install it over a newer firmware update, so make sure that box is not checked.

There was rumor that ASUS was trying to move everything to 3.0.0.6 but I also think it's strange that they moved the GT-AX6000 over and not the GT-AXE16000. Because later I heard rumor that it was only "Pro" routers that get moved over.
I got my GT-AXE16000 on 6/25/22 after challenge finding stock...

The really sad part is that the only way this router will fully support VLANs (example: mapping an SSID to a VLAN on a trunk port) is with this beta firmware.
Which means if you purchased it for that feature (like me), you were never provided with anything but an early stage beta.
At least, it works. Unless you wanted AP mode, as it only works with router mode.
