1. Killed Ai Mesh connection to Main Router also a GT-AC5300.
2. Had to Reset as Access Point (AP)
3. No Luck setting as AP.
4. No Ping response.
5. Had to downgrade firmware to configure the AP
6. Upgraded once again via WEB interface.
7. No more WEB access. BUT wired connections working. WIRELESS WILL NOT CONNECT. Set as 192.168.1.2
8. DOES NOT RESPOND TO PINGS.
9. Main Router is 192.168.1.1 and AP shows as 192.168.1.2 in the network list
10. The ASUS discovery APP shows BOTH as 192.168.1.1
11. Main Router (192.168.1.1) is working fine - wired and wireless
12. Perhaps this is a hardware issue with the AP and not related to the firmware as the main router is working --BUT>> While updating iPhone on itunes Itunes reports ;loss of connection. All other browsing streaming is unaffected.

You must keep the 2.4-GHz band radio on at all times. Why? Because WI-FI DHCP license renewal uses the 2.4-GHz band. If you have the 2.4-Ghz band turned off then when its time for a device to renew it's IP address, it will not renew and will not connect.

If someone knows more info about this or has a correction then please replay to this post with proof. Thanks

GT-AC5300 FIRMWARE VERSION 3.0.0.4.386.42643 was released and is causing me nothing but problems. I have two piholes and when I set them up as my dns servers the router no longer can connect to the internet. It seems to be blocking them.

This is the same issue i have. I believe it has to do with the piholes using a dnsmasq and the firmware patching something with a dnsmasq exploit. Now i recently fully updated my pihole and removed dnsmasq from Linux and used the built in dnsmasq from pihole. I believe that is the FTL service. I have yet to the new firmware with this discovery.

I seen you in this thread as well and was going to mention to others that this beta fixed it.

I'm sorry if its obvious, but I'm new to this community and just trying to understand if this thread from three years ago is relevant enough to be a sticky post and why?
