*WORKED. now i cannot connect to it anymore using the windows download master utility. nice, so they removed the feature... now how can i download my torrents directly to HDD and stream them via media server ? 😞

Update : Before updating from Beta to the latest firmware, please remove all VPN profile and any DHCP Manual clients for the GUI not to lag

VPN Issues needed to be fixed
1. DNS still falls back to the First VPN connected server when multiple VPN is activated

VPN Status
1. Multiple VPN working fine

Recommendations
1. VPN Status for Clients (e.g. Indicator for Clients whether they are connected to the specific VPN Route/DNS if possible)

Upgraded my GT-Ac5300 with this firmware 3.0.0.4.384.45149.

VPN fusion with selective VPN tunneling works and is stable.

As my second router is a RT-AC5300 I was able to successfully setup AIMESH and use the second 5 Ghz channel as a back haul.

Appears finally ASUS has been able to address the majority of issues on this router after 3 months of trial and error and several firmware releases.

Hopefully this firmware remains stable,

What VPN service are you using and what type of VPN are you using? OpenVPN protocol? NordVPN doesn't work for me as ExpressVPN also. Nothing...

hmm for couldn't connect over wifi, you mean all devices or specific devices only?

I guess you can try to revert back to the earlier beta firmware? So far that is the best for me due to lesser problems on my usage
-The gui problem is a havoc compared to others, it crashes so bad till I have no choice to stop continuing using it
-The feedback for me works, I'm using google account to send by the way

all devices.
wifi under smartconnect has been particularly buggy

My setup:
GT-AC5300 main AiMesh node
RT-AC5300 remote node

After flashing the GT, still could not see the remote node, it could not detect it however it did see it as a connected wireless device (this changed with the FW).

Connected from the GT (any ethernet port) to the RT (use the WAN port) and rebooted.

After 20 mins, the RT is showing as a remote node available.

AiMesh connection ran on the GT without issue (remained connected wired)

Removed wired connection and connection resumed wirelessly. Note the RT is 3 ft from the GT.

Moved the RT to its home, took approx 5 mins to reconnect.

So far, 10 mins into the process, AiMesh 'appears' to be functioning again.

If anybody else has this setup, AiMesh seems to take a VERY long time to detect. I hope this glitch and the others will be fixed very soon so the feature list of the GT can be fully enjoyed.

Good luck all!

Upgraded my GT-Ac5300 with this firmware 3.0.0.4.384.45149 .

While the status of the router shows connected on the main page of the router clients connected to the router cannot access the internet.

I have a simple VPN Fusion setup with one device connecting through OpenVPN and the default directly to internet.

Had to revert back to FW_44603 and have the VPN Fusion working with internet access to all devices.

However the version FW: 44603 does not have support for AIMESH.

When will ASUS provide a version that truly fixes the issues and make it available officially on the support download center.

Updated to new firmware via web browser gui firmware update function. Experience good without factory reset on GT-AC5300.

1) VPNFUSION finally works for me. Have not stressed it with multiple VPNS or connections yet but my one setup works fine. I deleted the existing ExpressVPN connection and started from scratch with a fresh OPENVPN file from Express and current username and password from the Express sight. ExpressVPN is not the default internet and I have just added one wireless client to it for now. DNSLeak test passes on Express site says I am using Express DNS servers even though I have google DNS in my WAN settings in GT-AC5300 - good job on the fix as this is the behavior I expected to see. Wired clients using Default internet see google DNS so they are routing traffic separately.

2) decided to implement SmartConnect feature for all radios (tri-band 2.4, 5.1-1, 5.1-2). The only issue I had was some old incorrect SSID's in the AC5300 wifi settings. I had the same SSID in 2.4 and 5.1-2 and a different one in 5.1-1 (must have fat fingered it in the past). I had to change them all to the same SSID and then turned on SmartConnect to that same common SSID and all is fine now.

3) had an older ac66r in media bridge mode that requires choosing the ssid and freq so just set to smartconnect ssid using 2.4 band after a factory reset.

Pretty vanilla setup with mostly wired clients using default internet and not VPNFusion except on the one wireless client but everything seems fine for now.

I setup my GT-AC5300 as the AiMesh router, and connect the AiMesh node of a RT-AC5300 through cable connection. But after I upgraded the firmware to*3.0.0.4.384_45149,*5 GHz-2 of GT-AC5300 is now used as dedicated WiFi backhaul under AiMesh mode. Since I connected the AiMesh node by Ethernet cable, I don't think it's necessary to reserve the*5 GHz-2 of GT-AC5300 as a dedicated WiFi backhaul. Anyone can advise me how to release*5 GHz-2 of GT-AC5300 from a dedicated WiFi backhaul? Thanks.

This update seems to be ok so far, but I'll post one issue I had.

I'm using the RT-AC88u as an Aimesh node. On the previous firmware, the only way I could get Aimesh to work on my 5Ghz band was to use the 5G1 network as my gaming band and then set up the 5G2 network as my main 5G network which broadcast the same SSID from my router and my Aimesh node. After updating to this latest firmware, I noticed that my Aimesh was not working on my 5Ghz band. After using my WIFI analyzer tool, I noticed that the router and the Aimesh node were both now broadcasting the same SSID for my gaming band (the 5G1 network). I had to do some re-configuring, but I'm actually happy with this now because it makes more sense to use the 5G2 band as the gaming band.
