Hi Asus networking users and enthusiasts. 👋
I was planning some wifi mesh upgrades and wanted to know some opinions on the GT-6 Mesh system VS the Zen WifiPro XT12?
I have already settled on the wifi 6 standard as I need some backwards compatibility for iot devices. As of now I don't need the Dual 2.5 ports. (But always nice to think about future upgrades.) I plan on using them as the main router and mesh for 2 floors. I will also use the wireless backhaul to connect. The router node would be connected to an sfp fiber modem via ethernet.
It seems that the Rapture GT-6 is the most robust mesh offering despite it being marketed towards gamers and having some gaming specific features. Even though the XT12s costs more and is marketed as a more premium product, I am drawn to the GT-6 because it is newer.
What do you all think of these 2 systems when stacked against each other? Do they both provide speed/coverage to handle streaming and gaming plus a house full of smart devices? Although I will game a bunch on it I am looking more for the best Wifi mesh that Asus offers. Thanks for reading. I was not able to locate a similar post here. Feel free to link to any relevant comparisons.

Oh yea one other detail I am unable to confirm, it looks like the GT-6 supports captcha login for administration. I can't tell by the specs if the XT12 does.

Upfront the XT12 has 2 2.5 Gb ports like you mention. (I used 2.5 Gb backhaul but now use 10 Gb on my AXE16000). It looks like it has 4x4 2.4 GHz radio (which I assume supports more IoTs), rated 11000 vs GT6 10000. One thing you’ll have to consider is the GT6 supports VPN Fusion which the XT12 does not appear to unless I missed it. (I don’t personally use VPN Fusion)…

I had three other thoughts I'd like to share:
I have Captcha login on my GT-AXE16000, I just checked the specifications to make sure I have it. I do believe I've seen it in the past, but I don't know what I clicked or option I selected but I haven't seen it in a very very long time, mabye just that once. Being as it is I'm not sure if it's an important consideration.
I have a 6E router (as noted) and I do believe there is backwards compatibility with IoTs so I am not sure staying with WiFi 6 is a necessity, it may be a matter of more money, which I definitely understand as a concern. (I have a friend who's happy with his $30 router, and I'm happy for him)...
From that I can say that 6 GHz backhaul does work, through at least one floor, and maybe 10 - 15 ft of horizontal distance. (They are positioned at roughly the same height I would say). In fact my AXE11000 and AXE16000 were preferentially on 6 GHz vs 2.5 Gbps ethernet backhaul for maybe 1 - 2 weeks. (I have it set to automatically choose). If you can find a store that would let you try a 6E router and return without penalty if it doesn't work out then I would definitely consider it. 6 GHz is not as crowded as 5 GHz and may work out better as a backhaul.
BIOS- Yes I took a look at both and the XT12 has 2 new beta versions made available this year. The GT6 has release versions available this year, (the only ones as it's new). If I had to choose based on this the GT6 would be better as it has release level BIOS from this year. I did take a peek at the more expensive ET12 and the latest dated 2023/04/13 is a release level firmware. (Obviously they are more focused on supporting the ET12).

Thanks for reading and your input. I have opted to go for the ET12 based on price and specs. This will enable me to take full advantage of the 2.5 WAN port. Will also go for the LAN backhaul as I have pre-existing 6e cabling. I WIll update here later once all setup and optimized etc.
