Make Future Router Feature Suggestions Here!

Hi all,

ASUS ROG is requesting our best suggestions for ROG product improvements. As a moderator I won’t have the ability to implement your suggestions but I will be picking some of the best to highlight for the ROG team so they know what matters to us, the community.

Some guidelines for this thread:
1) Keep it positive and constructive. In most of the forum I try to allow you all to express your thoughts freely (within reason). This thread has the express purpose of generating constructive suggestions so I will be moderating this thread and deleting posts that do not contribute to that goal.
2) Keep it concise and on topic. Some minor discussion regarding a specific suggestion is welcome but if you would like to have a longer conversation I ask you start an additional thread and link it in your post here. You can also request a moderator move your posts if you have need.
3) Try for realistic ideas that appeal broadly to gamers. A small improvement on an existing ROG product is much more likely to get chosen than an entirely new product that only matters to a small number of people.
4) Support your favorites! You don’t have to come up with a suggestion to help. If you see something you like, quote it and say so! More support for an idea improves its chances.

EDIT:
I’ve updated the titles for these feedback threads to reflect that this is primarily for *future* products. Sorry for the lack of clarity. While there is a chance some ideas could be implemented via software updates it’s most likely any suggestions would be rolled into new products.
Also, these threads are not for issue reporting and such posts won’t reach the right people. Please post issues in the ROG Care > Hardware & Software Support section. Or contact ASUS support via phone or email for immediate assistance.

WiFi 7 has a max throughput of “46 Gbps”, see attached reference.  So far in the market the highest I’ve found is 33 Gbps.  There’s a saying: “If you make it, they will come,” something to that effect.  I guess it could be translated as:  If you make it, people will buy it…

I would like to see proper support to network boot through PXE boot a PC through an Asus Router. This basically means:
  - Extending the DHCP server in order to allow to configure a boot firmware filename (PXE, iPXE, netboot.xyz, etc) to retrieve from a TFTP server.
  - Implementing a TFTP server (tftpd-hpa) to serve the boot firmware.

In this way, an Asus router would be capable to network boot a PC even in a home network.

1. Make AURA Sync with a bit more options as time scheduling (turning on/off day/night.) Integrating the router to armory crate, wirelessly would be good, to be synced with all devices at once. Add the color white in aura sync, in static and other modes.

2. Try to fix rainbow effect to be more smoothly, not stuttering. Only this mode is not shifting colors smooth. All other modes with changing colors are smooth.

3. Add one-click ram clean utility. Clearing stuff and freeing up some memory from logs, crashes, etc.

4. Some modes for CPU processing power

5. Make USB storages easily accessable. (Create new section in router browser GUI, and as soon as the usb flashdrive is plugged in to have access to the files, deleting, creating, uploading).

6. Be more frequent with the updates of the high-end router devices *AX/E11/16000 Pro*. Fixing bugs and security improvements is crucial for these devices.

The AX-16000 router model does have a very bright, pleasant aura backlight, but I would really like to be able to control the brightness and speed of the animation, as well as a night time setting where the backlight could be turned off or set to a minimum brightness of the user’s choosing. Much cheaper models of roturs from other manufacturers have a night mode.

I really need ASUS to fix the "ISP DHCP Configuration issue" error in the ROG Rapture GT-AXE16000 that was introduced with the November 22, 2022 firmware update (3.0.0.4.388.21617).

I'm continuing to have this problem with Frontier Fiber (USA, 1GB) regularly and the solution is to factory reset, re-run the September 13 2022 Firmware update (3.0.0.4.386.50168), and power cycle everything...and sometimes I have to do that more than once.

The November update contained an "improve connection speed with Verizon FiOS" (see release notes)--Frontier FIOS is the same animal, as Verizon spun off some of its FIOS service to Frontier years ago. So I think this may be related as it was this update that first broke my router last year.

Happy to help troubleshoot or test firmware if it would fix the problem.

Can you give a little more details on the frequency.  We have Giggle Fiber (cable modem service) here where the AXE16000 is.  Frontier is about 15 mi away and I have to disconnect the AXE16000 node and bring it there to test.  Not sure if I want to wait over a day for an issue or week(s) for example like the Traffic Analyzer issue (that only possibly shows up 2 weeks 2/3 of the time)…

It first happened when I updated the firmware and rebooted the router back in November, so I rolled back and stayed there.

Now it seems to happen any time the power drops for any reason. I have the Frontier ONT on a UPS and the router is in a different part of the house, and also on a UPS. Yesterday the whole house (a very new home) took a power hit that killed the router's UPS's battery and so the router's power dropped and it came back up with the error.

A few weeks ago when this happened I took my router to my father's house, where he is on Xfinity, and tested and didn't have this problem, so it may be FIOS-specific (or even Frontier-specific).  I tried rolling forward to newer firmware versions and the error remains.

I really appreciate these responses! I'm very tech-savvy and am happy to do what I can to answer questions or help test.

Have a suggestion a bug report for GT-AX6000:

1- suggestion: allow to have two DHCP servers at once, not just one like now.

2- bug in version 3.0.0.6.102_21514 the static route list is ignored if a device is using vpn client (openvpn, wireguard)

3- also other bug: 2.5 Gb ports don't work well if other end is only 1 Gb, it fall back to 100 Mbps.

Start adding the 240Mhz (wide) 5Ghz radio to (WiFi 7) routers.
