GT6 - Using WPS button for turning on/off LED doesn't work on secondary node

Hey!

It seems that using WPS button for LED lights works only on primary node. It turns on/off LED on this device only. The same button on secondary node doesn't do anything. I need this to allow my kids to turn LED without asking me to do that via mobile application every time.

Does anyone know if this can be changed? Or it is by design?

I don't have a GT6 but my Primary and Mesh node seem to be independent.  You might try changing the option to something else, then change it back.

Do the two units have different ASUS_XX numbers on the bottom?  We don't need to know what that number is.

Tried to change WPS button behaviour to "Activate WPS", then back to "Turn LED On/Off", it didn't help - button is still working as LED switch on primary node only.

Yes, both have the same default SSID.

Unfortunately the nodes have limited functionality in AiMesh.  You may consider forgoing mesh and making the 2nd unit and Access Point.

Something else you might try is, you could directly wire your computer to the WAN port on the mesh node to see what it shows as far as that button.

If you wanted to connect wirelessly, you might, if using Windows and the WEB GUI, turn off the primary router and create an SSID for the mesh node using that ASUS_XX number.  You should be able to find it just like you can find known Hidden SSIDs.

Could you please guide me here? I've connected to secondary node via wire in WAN port, but when I try to access admin web UI on that node (via IP address of secondary node) I get redirected to main node's admin web UI.

I have been working on this and can see the router for about 2 seconds then it switches back to the primary.  Maybe I am misremembering how it works and there needs to be a reset first.  But resetting would not help your situation unless the initial setup had misconfigured that switch.

I will keep trying later in the day.

Is there any chance the setting to use the WPS button is one that isn't affected by the Mesh process?

If that were to be the case, could you change the soon to be mesh node before you connect it to the mesh process?

Will try to reset that node and access admin UI before joining Mesh.

This might be a bit tricky...

The addition of a node is done with the node router added in initial state.  I don't think you can add it as a node once it has been configured.  The button(s) are configurable in Access Point mode but you lose AiMesh between the two routers.  If this is acceptable then that is your best bet, or as you note inconveniently use ASUSwrt to set the light on the node on or off.  I set up a network in our house where my in-laws stay, and I gave the log in to her for her to configure the network as my sister-in-law needs.  I guess that is a third option if they are of age where they can log in and set it as they please.
