GT-BE98 Pro - slow wireless

I recently got gigabit internet and decided to upgrade my router to take advantage of the speeds. Everything wired to the router has a great solid 950mbps speed. My wifi is much slower, and I understand it depends on the frequency, band width, distance, etc. When I connect to the wifi7 connection and im 1ft away from the router, shouldn't I be able to get close to the 950 wired speeds? Even right next to it with wifi7 I get 500. I don't have any qos on that I could find. Are there any other settings that could be cutting the speed that much? What am I missing?

Also, separate issue, none of my Kasa plugs will connect to the 2.4ghz network with this router.

It would be helpful if you could describe the wireless device you are using, such as phone or computer.

If it is a computer, do you know the model of the Wi-Fi adapter?

If you are using Windows, you might check the properties for your Wi-Fi network and post the link speed shown.  Be aware those numbers usually catch whatever it is seeing when selected and may change if selected again.

Also consider/look for possible sources of interference.  This can include simulated sine wave UPS...

I was connecting to the wifi7 with a Samsung S24 Ultra. I have also connected the same phone and my Xbox X to the 5g band and half the speed I would expect. Everything hardwired gets 950. Everything wireless gets 500ish. I can see interference if I was far away from it, or another floor, but I can put my phone directly next to it, connect wifi7, still dont even get close to the full ethernet speed.

We have seen folks who have modified the initial install equipment and were getting slower speeds.

Are you running Fiber?

Do you have the ASUS app on your phone?  My iPhone 16 is showing a link speed of about 2.1 Gbps on the Network Client List.  I think that is as fast as it can go.

Yes, fiber at 1gbps. Using speedtest app, gets 520.

You also say your Kasa plugs will not connect.  That may be a security situation and are using WPA instead of WPA2 or WPA3 Personnel.  You may want to make sure they are looking for an IoT network.

This situation may also be involved with the primary situation.

Please don't tell me you have a UPS running, and it's making noise...

No UPS and using wpa2/wpa3 for the 2.4 Kasa network. The only thing near it is an xbox series x, in standby mode and an old hp wireless printer.

When you look at the Network Map in the GUI and select to show the Client List, what numbers are showing in the highlighted area?  These numbers show the possible wireless speeds to a specific device.
