Hello.
I've had have a GT-BE98 Pro for five months. I'm currently running Firmware Version:3.0.0.6.102_37839. I'm using it in Wifi Router mode.
Initially, it worked fine.
Recently, DNS connectivity unexpectedly stops. When this happens, the router shows as "Connected" in the dashboard, but clients can't connect over the internet to webpages.
Rebooting my modem., rebooting the router, and flushing the DNS cache on the clients or rebooting them doesn't change anything. When DNS goes, it effects all clients: Windows , MacOS, and Linux.
My ISP when contacted, tested my connection, and told me (basically) "Our stuff works. Not our problem." (Its not their modem, or their router.)
Interestingly, using the router's 'Network Tools' I can Ping Targets by their web address, but clients on the LAN cannot.
The problem started about the same time I installed a ProtonVPN Wireguard. I've since disabled the VPN and just use me ISP assigned IP. The problem continues.
Overtime, I've found what appears to correct the problem. That is to change and "Apply" a setting in the WAN DNS Setting portion of the WAN - Internet Connection section of the dashboard. Any setting change "Applied" appears to work. Recently, I've taken to adding and removing DNS-over-TLS Servers .
Is this a known issue?
Is it related to my DNS settings?
Is it DNS related at all?
Finally, is there manual for decoding the contents of the System Log?
Thank you for any help.

I heard from someone who's a lot more knowledgeable about DNS than me that it is safer to have:
Prevent client auto DoH No.
Beyond that I really don't know much to be completely honest.

Have you tried going back to the default settings, temporarily, to see if it helps?
That yellow message in your attachment seems relevant. You stated you disabled the DNS-over-TLS, but was it set that way when the system was working?
I am not familiar with the type of VPN configuration you are using, but a change may have been made on your system that is still in place, even though you have only disabled that VPN.
Have you tried going to certain sites using the IP address after resolving the IP Name.

Thanks for replying.
I was in the middle of replying to you when the DNS "dropped" again. Then started the goat rodeo to get back on the interweb. I also lost my reply to you.
I haven't done a reset, because I'm afraid of losing my settings. I have copied the router's settings to file. However a reset is the Big Hammer vs. the Little Hammer of Reboot.
I've never understood that Yellow Message. How do you get rid of it?
>a change may have been made on your system that is still in place, even though you have only disabled that VPN.
That's scary. I can't be sure, but this problem may have started with the latest auto firmware update. Is there a new firmware update coming anytime soon?
Going back and using IP Addresses always works. Its just terribly inconvenient. 🙂 Frankly, that the router's 'Network Tools' Ping Targets by their web address on the menu pulldown works baffles me, when my clients can't use web addresses baffles me. (I think they hardcoded the IP Addresses into the app?)
There is only one other person on Reddit that has this problem. That's how I got the "DNS Change Fix to work. Have you heard of this before?

Is there a reason you set Google primary and secondary DNS on top, then put Cloudflare DNS on the DoT list? Choose Google DNS (4 of them, 2 IPv4 and 2 IPv6) and remove the Cloudflare and I suspect the yellow warning will disappear. I only know the Google IPv4

Hi,
I recently tried accessing https://nbiappointmentph.ph/contact-us/ using my GT-BE98 Pro router, but I keep facing DNS errors. The site doesn't load unless I switch to mobile data. Is anyone else having DNS-related issues with this router model? Wondering if there’s a DNS setting I need to change or if the router just drops resolution for some websites.

I can access the link from here in the USA, so it may be the DNS server you are using. BTW- Don't you want this site instead?
